From what I saw last night it looks like the armed man had stolen the gun back in March. He was shot in the chest and arm while fleeing. The cop's body camera is being investigated so we don't know if the suspect was shooting at the police or at least gun the gun to them. The people locked inside the gas station got out safety from what I saw. I'm furious right now. Milwaukee is already a racially divided city. This will only make things worse. They said that police presence will be increased within the area that this took place (the hood). The black community really ****ed themselves up here. I was also watching live footage from last night and watched some men get arrested as police were trying to tell people to leave and find a way around the scene (that's what I believe was happening). Of course they started getting violent with the police and were arrested. There was no point in arguing with the police. These people are making their community look like a joke. On a another note, the news station and major keep talking about how "our" city is in chaos. I don't remember a time in which the rich/white areas ever gave a **** about the black areas. Suddenly they care? It's just another reason why this community is broken. Again, I'm filled with mixed emotions. from what the news reported they said his gun was holding 23 bullets. idk much about guns but i googled it and hand guns with extended mags hold 20 bullets or 25 so the 23 number is odd. it would seem like a few shots were fired from it but the thing is that it doesnt matter. the police are so distrusted that everyone can easily say that the police planted and fired that gun themselves. the black community doesnt trust the police (and the distrust is more than understandable imo) what really sucks is that the news all day today is playing the "is it racist" game and not really addressing solutions other than " democrat mayors ruin the city" or "this is obamas fault" . they just promote their partisan bullshit opinions and demonize the black community especially with the warning that alderman gave. they painted it as if he was making threats when he was just being real and warning that things will only get worse if they arent addressed. the body camera is really what we need to see. i hope they can release it quickly but it will probably take months. I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

Yes. The press conference was interesting. The police and major Barrett were obviously trying to be politically correct in what they said. Nothing wrong. But the seriously talk came from the black leaders that spoke. However, the black community took a pretty big hit last night. They're only lucky that the violence was kept in their neighborhood. And I hate to say it like that, but it really explains how divided the city is. And I agree with the gun details. There isn't enough to go off of at this moment. Luc 4,776
I actually think this is a productive way to stop police violence. If every time somebody gets killed by police who does not directly threaten the life of the police, a riot happens and a few things are blazed down, it could actually make the police more careful in the future. On the other hand, I think this encourages racial divisions and encourages racism among police... and of course it is a violent way of protest which is not good.
