Reading about ARTPOP's downfall again makes me feel emotional and somewhat inspired to do something. I just hope with LG5 Gaga is happy.

Lets all just promise to support her, and if we meet her be nice to her and tell her we appreciate what she does :P  it's all we can do. Oh and buying her albums and tickets to her shows :P

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Next single was supposed to be Venus. This is what Gaga wanted, and the fans had voted for it too. She wanted to show off her own writing and producing, and she believed in the song. Steven Klein and Ruth Hogben were brought on board. However, DWUW, released as a promo single, surprisingly peaked very high in the charts. Record label made her change the single from Venus to DWUW last minute. Venus video (already conceptualised and ready to go) was scrapped.

Billboard interview: “At the end of 2014, my stylist asked, ‘Do you even want to be a pop star anymore?’ I looked at him and I go, ‘You know, if I could just stop this train right now, today, I would. I just can’t. [But] I need to get off now because I’m going to die.’ When you’re going so fast you don’t feel safe anymore, you feel like you’re being slapped around and you can’t think straight. But then I felt hands lifting me. It was like everybody came together to try and put a star back in the sky, and they weren’t going to let me down.”

And this iconic interview. In which she speaks about the industry, and wanting to quit music all together. Please, put aside an hour and watch it one day. It's very good, very important, and very eye opening.

Amazing post ! Best one I ever read here in over 5 days!:hug:

I'm reading right now, and commenting at the same time.

Gaga wanted 'Aura' instead of 'Applause', she wanted it to be the 3rd part of the 'Paparazzi' music video. Interscope didn't agree, that's why she leaked it.

But you know, that mess of not letting Gaga choose wasn't just in the ARTPOP era! It was the same for every album she released. Idk about The Fame, but concerning The Fame Monster, she wanted 'Bad Romance' first, 'Alejandro' and then 'Dance in the Dark' as final single.

For Born This Way, she wanted 'Marry the Night' first. They didn't agree. Then she decided to put it out as second single, and then 'The Edge of Glory' and 'Shiza' (Scheisse).

PS: We never voted for 'Venus' to get released as a single :)

the 'Do What U Want' video never came out because R. Kelly and Terry made disgusting things to a dancer on the set.

You're wrong, people loved the 'G.U.Y.' video. But Interscope didn't want to promote it for her.

I admire the effort that has been put into this (as it is very informative, especially for the newer fans) but I really think we should all let go of whatever has happened with ARTPOP. It was a mess, a kii, and a cackle, and no one really can know what has happened to its plans except for Gaga and Interscope. All we can do now is at least accept the album was a decent pop effort, and look forward to the probably still non-existent LG5.

Helxig literally described everything that made ARTPOP such a toxic and devastating experience for gaga, and how serious it was and still is, and what you got from it was a kii and a cackle?

I hope when your friends experience depression you won't 'cackle' at them and tell them to just 'let it go'

I was just trying to be smartass with the mess, kii, cackle comment but you just have to take it to another level. Also, you have taken 'let it go' to the worst possible place, but whatever - I'm guessing that you're a messy bitch who lives for the drama so

I ask you this: is opening up every toxic thing that has happened during that era again the true way to find peace and vindication (as if you needed it)? Is convincing yourself over and over again of how Gaga was wronged, slandered, betrayed during that time the only way to move on?

I am not denying that all these bad things - heartaches - have happened during that time, but I think dwelling in them three years after it happened is, with a lack of a better term to describe it, stupid. Within three years, we have established Again and Again™ that none of these were Gaga's fault. She was just an artist with a vision, an experience she wanted to share that nobody understood. Whatever happened behind the scenes is already beyond our control. For three years all this fanbase had to do was support her, love her, and try to shield her from all the negativity that is relentlessly coming her way. That was it. That should be the end of that. We don't need to know all the things that has transpired and discuss them Again and Again™ like it was our business. Our business was to take care of Gaga (no matter how cheesy it sounds), but even that some of y'all Little Flopsters™ fail to do! That is all that is asked of us.

It's cute tho that you still feel this strongly to what has happened in 2013 - I just don't feel the same way. As I have said, I accepted everything, moved on, has ARTPOP peace secured in my hearteu, and most importantly have been on threads like this MULTIPLE TIMES. Discussing negativity doesn't help anyone in this situation, so y'all should stop.

So in summary:
1. You're over dramatic
2. Everything about ARTPOP has been settled, atleast for the people who really care about gagz
3. Ya think constantly opening up negativity is a good idea?

P.S. I do have friends who are depressed, but I don't tell them to just 'let it go'. I tell them nothing. Why? Because it's their thing. I just let them be. I help them by being positive, and by showing them that it's somewhat nice to look on the brighter side. However, I cackle at them from time to time.

P.S.S. love u @Helxig i still admire ur effort but again

P.S.S.S. Someone was complaining about the drama in this thread a few pages back, and I laughed. And now here I am. A true

Why am i not mad and actually cackling myself :toofunny: maybe i am a messy drama thristy bitch after all

You're right on some points

But i was like wtf after all these tragedies that happened to gags he thinks they could be laughed off :crossed: you werent being serious enough to my overdramatic taste  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also you basically called this thread stupid which it isn't because if it escaped your notice a lot of us had never thought of it this way. I for one certainly have had my perception of lg5 changed by this. Im almost convinced pop is off the table, and im in peace with the fact it wont be. I also wont be mad at her for all the failed promises (you may have already gotten past that but tbh 80% of ggd still holds a grudge) so we really needed a post like this. Its not opening past wounds or whatever, it's an analysis we all needed. Plus tell me isnt it better than the 'gay vs straight incest' threads we'd been having lately? :awkney:

Well, thanks for bringing up all those painful memories

To be honest though, I think the ARTPOP era was a blessing in disguise. It helped her get rid of all the toxic, greedy, fake people in her life, she found true friendship in Tony and it forced her to reevaluate what she wanted to be as an artist and an individual. As much as the era was a trainwreck, I think she needed it to become stronger and be herself again. Everything happens for a reason, and if anything, we should all be thankful for the ARTPOP era .

Oh I just thought of another thing!

She was supposed to go to SPACE, to be the first person ever to perform IN OUTER SPACE.

That would've been huge for her career, huge for her album, and a huge personal achievement that she would hold forever. Imagine knowing that you were the first person to ever perform in space?

And then the test flight went wrong, the project went bunk, and it never happened for her.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I never really cared about numbers and awards. I enjoy the music and all that she does. When the GP does too, that's just a bonus. I hope that LG6 (which will be released when she's ready) will be an album she loved making. That's what matters.

I'm obsessively opposed to the typical...

No one could have explained it better.

ARTPOP is a masterpiece, and I know that gaga had planned something even bigger for us. I love the album and It was an important part of some of the happiest years of my life. I don't care about the sales, her popularity or things like that. The only thing I care about what she makes me feel with her music, and she has been always there for me, so I'll stan for her no matter what. I love all of her albums, because is not about only the music, is not about sales, is not about fame. Is about a deep feeling in my heart everytime I listen to her voice, and that's why I love her.

We could belong together, ARTPOP.
