BuzzcutSeason 3,307
I mean i've never heard of someone passionately hating Rihanna because it's impossible. Legend or not time will tell but she has more hits than everyone and a strong work ethic (Besides ANTi which turned out to be her most album-like album rather than just singles). She doesn't seem like a legend because she's still at a point where potential to do bigger and better things is still there. In a lotta ways she's further along than Gaga

Adammmm 968
I know that this is OPs opinion, but i don't agree. I think Rihanna has some of the best music of the 2010's. ANTi was not her best work, but Rated R was an amazing album and Loud, Talk That Talk, and Unapologetic also have amazing tracks. I could see myself listening to Rihanna's music for a long time. I know ill get dragged for this but I don't think that some Beyonce songs are "legendary". Yeah Beyonce has an pretty great discography, but they're nothing to write home about in my opinion. NewYorkCity 10,536
I seriously don't get how people talk about massive success of rihanna... She doesn't have a hit tour, she doesn't have huge album sales (only 2 of her albums went #1), She gets one massive hit (2 At the most) on each album And the rest flop, she gets success on collabs yeah. She hasnt had an iconic performance ever. She is BAD live (she doesn't dance, she doesn't sing, she doesn't transmit energy...), she has had zero creative involvement on her music/videos/... I mean, I like her music, all her albums, I bought them. But let's not. The thing with rihanna is that she doesn't give a ****. Neither do people about her (in the good way). If Gaga had an era like Rihanna, she would be dragged to the pits. She would be called a flop. But rihanna is just there releasing music. A song ever year which people like and play At clubs, and a new one the next year.
Sister 9,907
Rihanna will become a Legend, everyone does when they have a steady career of longevity, whether you like them or not. Look at all of the bands and singers who come up to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, also look at all of the people who most people never took serious or were crap and when they've had a career that spans for twenty five to forty or more years, they get their credit and everyone suddenly forgets that hardly anyone ever really liked them and that they only had one or two major hits. Everyone gets their due. Rihanna is better than the example I have just given, she is actually worthy and will show for it, in the future. The future's uncertain and the end is always near. HausOfNicole 177
Even though this thread comes off a bit mean spirited I think there's some truth in it. Rhianna has been highly successful and I'd never take that away from her. What she hasn't managed to do is leave a mark on the industry. Her career thus far has been about following threads in music, which has allowed her to created a very successful brand. But really other than Umbrella, none of her songs hold up as being timeless, revolutionary or significant. Susscess alone does not make one a legend, it's the artist statements that stay with the pubic longer than three minutes that make you a legend. She could get there, and I even think she's earned MTVs recognition award because she's truly she's iconic music figure. Just not quite a legend. BuzzcutSeason 3,307
She has a lotta potential, in some ways more than gaga. BBHMM and Work weren't her best (work is very catchy and was huge), but her catchy songs that seem in the moment are actually the definition of being a pop artist. We Found Love is actually the longest number one by a female pop star and it did live on. Besides that, all her songs did live on because everyone knows them. I literally heard Don't Stop The Music on Z100 yesterday, just saying.
