I think it would be a good marketing plan, but on the other hand, it would be a mess because it would not have high real sales and they'd say it has a platinum award or #1s because it was for free. The fanbases fights would be a MESS. But they're now getting platinums and #1s from streaming, right? People are not even paying to listen to music now but yet they still count those plays as sales. I don't think it was well received (not the music, the release strategy) and thats why no one has done it since. EDIT: Also from a charts aspect it wouldn't work like that, they would probably market it as a free album (not streaming/they could but..) there's no reason gaga would do that when she's primarily a sales artist. Besides, its cheap, and the iPhone 7 is about to receive a lot of backlash from not having a headphone jack. Pass. Many people complained about U2's album and they're one of the most respected and legenday bands, can you imagine what they'd say about Gaga ? They'd throw her into the pits.
