Jase 13,043
Did y'all see that Adele was offered the headlining slot on the Pyramid stage at next years Glasto...but she turned it down? You just know that if Gaga turns out to do it, she'll be classed as sloppy seconds. Regardless over whether she was already confirmed for a different night (didn't the guy say he had already secured a female act a while back?) I've wanted to go to Glasto for the past couple of years, but I've never had the chance to get tickets. If Gaga plays, you can bet your ass I'll do anything to get there In other news, Rita's only 6k ahead of Fun. in the mids, so they could overtake her at the last minute  Edited May 18, 2012 by Jase

StrawberryBlond 14,225
Adele doesn't wanna work. It bugs me so much. Could be because she knows it's highly unlikely that she'll ever release an album that will have this effect on her career again. She's said in the past that she doesn't care whether she tops 21's success, but it must be weighing on her mind. She maybe turns down all these amazing offers to be even more successful because she knows the contrast will be even bigger if she doesn't deliver major success with her future work. If she can't sell like she is now, she'll be written off as a flash in the pan.
Americano 31,061
It's not working for her in the US though, Rumor Has It bombed because she's literally not doing anything anymore. It's okay to want to end an album era, that's 100% the artist's choice, but don't release singles if you're not going to push them. Stars like Britney Spears get slammed for their lack of promotion, but then Adele is getting a free pass for it. It's such a double standard.
toanythingtaboo 5
That's because the sun shines out of Adele's ass. Apparently it's commendable, a breath of fresh air and a middle finger up to the likes of Gaga, that she does minimal promo and doesn't bother with music videos. It's more "real", it's more "credible" that way. Actively trying to persuade people to give a **** about you and your music isn't cool...it's much better to let the hype sell it for you. She will have turned down Glastonbury because she's **** scared of performing in front of large crowds. If she feels that way about an arena full of people paying top dollar to see her, then the idea of 80,000 people who aren't really there to see her but will watch all the same...must be daunting. I think she knows - quite rightly - that her music/act is not right for something like Glastonbury. It requires showmanship and being able to command a gigantic crowd. Swearing and cackling her way through a set like a local pub singer won't cut it. They want sing-a-long hits and things they can have a good time with. The crowd will love the singles, but the rest will be a snore. It's totally fine that she doesn't want to do it, but no doubt some will see this as another example of her being so bloody "real" and "humble" that she actually turned down Glastonbury. What would the average festival goer even know in her set? Rolling In The Deep Someone Like You Set Fire to the Rain Hometown Glory Chasing Pavements She needs about three times that. Americano 31,061
I'm just over her. Lately I've jumped on the anti-Adele bandwagon. Not out of being pressed, but because I'm so over her music and the neverending praise. It's becoming absurdly unjustified.
Jase 13,043
The new song from Gareth Malone/Gary Barlow for the Jubilee is gonna be #01 in a couple of weeks. Ugh.
toanythingtaboo 5
I'm the same. I really don't mean to come across as pressed or a hater, but it's gotten to the point where I want her to **** off so we can have a breather without everything being somehow related to her. The hyperbole has gone supernova tbh. She can do no wrong, you can't say a word against her because you're pressed that she slayed your fave etc. I fear for her a wee bit. Nobody is immune to backlash, and the more extreme her ascent to the pedestal, the more extreme her fall will be.

I really like Adele, honestly I do, but people need to quit sucking her dick. it's getting to a point where she's become this ****ing sacred cow in the music industry and if you dare speak a word against her in any way you're just a jerk or body-shamer (which makes absolutely no ****ing sense because not only is it irrelevant in most arguments about her music, but SHE ISN'T FAT ANYMORE) it's not just within the music industry either. I was on Regretsy once and they were showcasing a horrible painting someone had made of...like a wood nymph or some **** and it looked like somebody with limited motor skills tried to paint Adele and I found it hilarious so I just left "that's an amazing Adele painting" or w/e in the comments and didn't think anything of it. I was attacked within like five minutes by people falling all over themselves to call her ~gorgeous and ~perfect, and I got called an asshole. I WASN'T EVEN TALKING ABOUT HER PERSONALLY, JUST THE ****ING PAINTING. ugh Edited May 18, 2012 by Famey

I was attacked within like five minutes by people falling all over themselves to call her ~gorgeous and ~perfect, and I got called an asshole. I WASN'T EVEN TALKING ABOUT HER PERSONALLY, JUST THE ****ING PAINTING. ugh Thanks. :P I know! She is absolutely un-touchable. No jokes can be made at her expense, even if you poke fun at everyone else too. Apparently being a bit chubby is a no-go area, but making fun of Gaga for being a talentless tranny copycat man beast is cool. Even the media follows this. By all means call Katy Perry and Rihanna sluts, Madonna an old hag, Christina a fat flop and Britney a mentalcase...but thou shall not say a bad word against Adele. I think what really bugs me most about Adele's success and the hype surrounding her, is that it's seen as direct discrediting of Gaga. I can't even begin to count the amount of times people reference how Adele slayed Gaga this year. No mention of anyone else. It was apparently a competition between those two alone, and Adele 'the sacred underdog' eradicated Gaga 'the gimmicky copycat'. Don't bother trying to point out Gaga's record breaking achievements this year. They are irrelevant. Everyone hates her. She's old news. Cracks me up that so many fail to see that Adele's success is more than likely going to be shortlived. She isn't a popstar, she isn't going to be able to adapt to whatever the latest trend is...and she can't forever bank on perfectly timing an album whenever pop is over-saturated and needing a breather. She is a niche act, and is at the complete mercy of the public still giving a **** in a few years when everyone has moved on. There may have even been a new Gaga/Adele like phenomenon by then. If she doesn't deliver top 40 appropriate music, radios won't bother. If she doesn't get hits, the casuals won't bother. We've seen it with Shania Twain, Alanis Morissette etc. who just couldn't follow mega-successful eras with anything that measured up. I wouldn't be surprised if Adele became more of a 'must buy this CD for Mothers day/Christmas for my Grandma' type of act, like Michael Buble/Norah Jones etc. Don't ever underestimate how fickle the public can be. The only way to survive is to adapt. Don't see Adele doing that.
Americano 31,061
It pisses me off when people throw Lady Gaga in the same class as Katy Perry and Rihanna, etc. Her music is so different, especially with Born This Way, and on a whole different level musically. Hell, her last 3 hits in the US sound NOTHING like anything else on the radio, yet people don't give her credit for that. She's still seen as a generic pop act. What generic pop act has stadium rock singles and a country ballad? I don't get it. It's not Adele's fault people do that to Gaga, but people act as if it's Adele and then everyone else, when clearly Gaga is ahead of the pack herself.
