Love it. It's a simple, well-directed music video with great camera shots and angles. In my opinion, it's really cinematographic. And I think it's really cool that she uses a totally different music video style than before. Feels like a brand new Katy Perry-style.

On the other hand, I don't like 'Rise' as a song that much. It isn't as good as her previous records. But, it slowly grows on me. Don't understand all the hate towards it.

It's not even the point if it's deep / straightforward / boring / exciting. It's that some people on this site run for their life whenever Katy releases something just to bash it because they hate her so much. They take away credit from her no matter what she does.

The video is visually pleasing, not low-budget, they certainly worked for it to be better than most of what comes out recently.
Katy worked for her fans (she's much like Gaga right here) to create something they could enjoy (these days some popstars don't even shoot laborious music videos for their proper singles because they are lazy / don't have a vision / don't want to spend some more money on it).
Rise - there is some vision here. She certainly worked for it.

Some people should remember that what truly matters is an effort, no matter what is the final product. When there is no effort, that's when you should bash people. You don't bash Gaga for the decay of ARTPOP era, because she tried to make it happen despite many obstacles - and that's what really matters.

First time seeing the video... It's odd, katybperry videos are usually visually good and interesting though mostly CGI done in a studio using a green screen... In this case she's on location (or so it seems) but the visuals are dull and boring and the 'storyline' for the video is non-existent.... This makes TEOG video look like a massive rave party.

Well, this video is...too original. It's not bad, but this song has a great potential and deserves a better video. I thought I'll see explosions, fireworks, something spectacular. But I saw that Katy can't use a parachute properly. Video is focused too much about emotions and not enough about visual effects. Damn, it's Summer Olympics song, not an Adele's sad video...
