when has britney ever been a trendsetter in music though? why are you guys going into this album expecting something that aint gonna happen. britneys never claimed to be an "artist". not every artist has to be boundry pushing.

If she is not an artist than what is she?

Im not a Britney stan, I wouldn't even call myself a fan. I've heard Circus and Britney Jean (:saladga:), the latter utterly disappointed me, even though I bopped to it for like a week and a half :laughga: but Im giving this era a try. I actually prefer Private Show even with the vocals being kind of ":wtf:"

I see what you mean, and I wouldve said the same things about Britney Jean, but her fans say its new territory for her, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. I honestly don't expect "greatness" from most pop music makers and popstars, but I always hold out hope and I'm very much a fan of what many a critic would call "mediocre" or (pejoratively) "bubblegum" pop. Most of the music that really "hits" me isn't pop music (the latest would be the entire EMOTION album by Carly Slay Jepsen ) and that's totally fine.. but then there are those gems that DO hit and they show up on these very commercial, mainstream pop albums.

Maybe one day I'll listen to Britney's whole discography to see what she pioneered and what made her so famous in the first place sonically, I don't really hear it now, but I could be missing out

私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

If you're not a fan of Britney, then why bother making a thread and comment on this new song negatively. Stop bringing this exciting moment down for the fans.

You are apart of the problem and you can be part of the solution.

I see no negativity tbh, this forum welcomes sharing opinions, every member is entitled to that right as long as they do it respectfully. Also not only Britney fans have the rights to comment on how much they like or dislike a Britney song. Last time I checked singers release music for the world, not their fans lol. If her fans cared, they would have brought Britney Jeans on iTunes, the truth is whenever a Britney album hits number one on the billboard 200, it's because the General Public are mainly supporting it, so if anything the casual listener plays a big role. I myself am a huge Britney fan, I own all of her albums in physical copy except for Britney Jean and that's simply because it was a lackluster album. Tried to force myself to love the new two songs, I just can't, they are very weak songs, not horrible or bad, just weak, it's not negativity, it's the wider truth. We all know ever since Blackout Britney lost her edge when it comes to singing but the producers always found a way to make her sound amazing when it comes to studio versions of her songs up to Britney Jeans even. Something seems odd with her vocals on the latest two songs, she sounds good in some places and really really bad in some places. So OP is just expressing his general worry when it comes to the sound of the album and it's totally understandable.

Every time Britney does literally anything you make a bitter thread about it. Don't pretend you're giving anybody any chances. If you irrationally hate the concept of a certain pop star own up to it.

Why irrationally? I gave rational reasons in my OP as to why I am not liking her new music.

She should pay Drake to convince him to collab with her. That would give her TOP5 single and +500mln views for sure, even if the song was shitty :stalkga:

You've made heavier shade over much less bad things Britney-related before. The irrational comes in when you write 2 paragraphs of why you don't like everything she does every time she does something. It's a lil reverse paws down expedition if you get what I mean. I agree about Private show being an ugly mess though.:laughga:

If you're interested in what sonically made her the biggest star since Michael Jackson compare In The Zone to her contemporaries music around that time. The other major pop singers were miles behind Britney and their stuff just doesn't hold up in the same way. Britney's sound heavily impacted pop music. Even generally better regarded musicians who are much more popular like Mariah Carey and Madonna's offerings from around that era sound less relevant to the musical landscape today.

But really the reason the gays revere her so much still is the same as almost every other gay icon. She's a fabulous beautiful woman who's always shown love to her gay fans. She also has a tragic life story that makes her feel like a kindred spirit to gays who generally have tragic stories of our own.
