Alongside the usual swag, including hats and other small freebies, attendees are finding tiny rubber fetal models inside the bag. The Precious One figurine, as it's called, depicts a 11 to 14 week old fetus and is described by one distributor as "the most realistic fetal model ever developed." Its "beautiful detail, softness and weight can really move hearts and change minds," they added. Mashable has reached out to the convention press office for clarification on how many fetus figurines have been given out. The Republican party has a long and chequered history when it comes to reproductive rights. In March this year, Donald Trump said women who have abortions should face "some sort of punishment," a statement that even the anti-abortion crowd in the party dismissed as "completely out of touch with the pro-life movement." Vice presidential candidate Mike Pence, meanwhile, has called for funerals for fetuses. Journalists at the convention this week have also reported receiving glass tumblers and an optimistic tome entitled Crippled America in their bags. A woman has a hard enough time making the difficult choice to terminate a pregnancy without some people shaming them or trying to control what they can and can't do with their own bodies. It's ridiculous that you have to have a corpse's permission to use its organs to save a life but these people would force women to incubate a child that she doesn't want and may not have even asked for. Ppl should stop thinking about abortion as a matter of moral or religion. It's an economical issue and issue of public health...I've seen what an abortion looks like and it's FAR from the murder these ignorants are trying to make it look like. I live in a country where abortions are illegal. Guess what? Medium class and rich girls are STILL GETTING IT, bc they won't jeopardize their future in order to carry out a pregnancy till the end. It's the poor women who can't afford an illegal/safe procedure that suffer, bc they'll either have that baby and have one more mouth to feed in an already deprived environment or they'll try to abort themselves (and I remember when I was in college seeing personally the case of a girl who tried to abort with a coat hanger and ended up puncturing herself on the inside, the wound got infected and she - a real person, not goo inside an uterus - died)... No one likes abortion, but to be against a woman's ability to choose and have the procedure done legally in a safe and sterile environment with the proper before and after care is just wrong.
