ReidOne 12,427
I'm sorry but this thread is incomplete without the "Uptown Funk" receipt being provided: ... and while we are at it, let's pull out the Wino receipt:

This one is everything!!! While I'm all for non traditional "pop", Uptown Funk is a prime example of what the genre "Pop Music" was created for. The Pop charts are simply "Popular" music. Uptown Funk is in the genre of Funk, Boogie, Disco etc not Pop in the sense most here are referencing. I'm here for Gaga moving forward sonically. I liked "I Want Your Love"! It was funk, though Gaga-fied. If you know what I mean. However I don't want Gaga jumping on this Funk bandwagon just because it's making a come back. 1 or 2 songs wouldn't be bad, but not an entire album with that focus. I'd love for Gaga to keep experimenting with new sounds while still incorporating classic elements from the past. What about a rock ballad like Purple Rain by Prince? I'd love to hear her vocals over a slower weeping guitar (not like Electric Chapel or Brown Eyes - though I love those songs). I'd be all the way here for Electro Funk though! Just think our very own Smooth Criminal-esque song. Hopefully that's the direction Gaga would go in if she's dipping her feet in the Funk genre. We'll see. . . People love those songs, have fuzzy memories of that era and don't want to let go of it. They're afraid of seeing her release something different. They think she's going to deliver Lilith Fair lesbian rock or something. I also feel people have the following misconceptions about Mark: A.) That he is too "indie" and is going to make some sort of rehash of Black to Black with her, which while great, is different from the huge glittery pop that most of GGD loves and wants from her. B.) Think all he is capable of is Uptown Funk, a song many find obnoxious. The reality is that Mark is deeply inspired by hip hop and dance music (since he started out as a DJ) - basically, the man loves himself some "bops". No one, I repeat, no one should be worried that he's going to serve some funeral dirge music or rehash himself for the sake of it. He cares about the music he makes, and seems to deeply admire and respect Gaga. I have a feeling he'll do her good and try to deliver his best to her. Personally, all I'm concerned about regarding him is that he uses brass instruments in his music a lot, and sometimes I don't care for it, but that's just my own personal taste. I don't get this. How can you not hear a strong tempo or rhythm in songs like these?: ^It's so lush and catchy. ^Can't you see Gaga runway stomping to this? Thank You! @MaryJaneHolland why didn't you reply to this...you usually reply everytime when someone quotes you

Creyk 17,805
Mark Ronson is not talented. It's a huge downgrade for Gaga to be working with him. She is wasting her time.
