ViviLittleM 3
As Sia's "Cheap Thrills," featuring Sean Paul, takes over atop the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Aug. 6), new singles by Katy Perry and Britney Spears roar onto the chart in the top 20. Perry's "Rise" is the Hot 100's top debut at No. 11, with the bulk of its points from sales, as it opens at No. 1 on the Digital Songs sales chart with 137,000 downloads sold in the week ending July 21, according to Nielsen Music. Perry scores her 11th Digital Songs No. 1, passing Taylor Swift (10) for the second-most leaders in the chart's history. Rihanna leads with 14 Digital Songs No. 1s. Katy Perry Returns With Olympics Anthem 'Rise' "Rise" bubbles under the Streaming Songs chart, with 4.6 million first-week U.S. streams, and Radio Songs, with 14 million in airplay audience. The song celebrates the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, set to begin Aug. 5. NBC plans to use "Rise" as its anthem throughout its broadcast of the Games, which runs through Aug. 21. Following the premiere of the song's video featuring prior Olympians' highlights, Perry released a teaser video Friday (July 22) for a more proper clip. "Rise" concurrently enters the Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop Songs and Pop Songs format airplay charts at Nos. 22, 24 and 33, respectively. Meanwhile, Spears starts at No. 17 on the Hot 100 with "Make Me," featuring G-Eazy. Sales likewise account for the majority of the song's Hot 100 start, as it bows at No. 3 on Digital Songs (96,000 sold), while nearing Streaming Songs (5.3 million domestic streams) and Radio Songs (20 million in audience). On Pop Songs, the cut climbs 31-24 in its second week. ViviLittleM 3
Despite the new songs' arrivals, neither Perry nor Spears is expected to release a new album in the foreseeable future; thus, their new singles arrive with stand-alone buzz, not billed as previews from forthcoming albums. There's no limits to its success, she's cracked the radios for the first time in ages worldwide. This could be massive for Britney!!!
