I don't know of a single country in which assault or battery is a capital offence. I'm not defending his actions or his character, just pointing out that one shouldn't be so quick to praise the grandfather.

And now he's bloating on a slab somewhere. Lol

Nod if you wanna make love with the enemy. ❤

This is without a doubt the most disturbing thread I've ever seen on this site. I'm genuinely shocked at how callus and disgusting some of these posts are.

I'm shocked that this site's members have reacted so positively to this. To paraphrase RuPaul, murder is murder is murder is murder is murder is murder; regardless of whether you think the grandfather's action was reasonable, murder is morally wrong. There are many cases of youths turning away from ISIL after witnessing first-hand the scale of barbarity within the organisation, and even if he had stayed with them, very few ISIL supporters actually end up being engaged in front line attacks, so we can't assume that he would have become a suicide bomber. Imagine the uproar in the press if this had happened in a "Western" country...

Also, it's easy to see how this could be used as propaganda within ISIL; the boy has now become yet another martyr, another faithful jihadist fell by the hands of his own infidel grandfather.

Morality? there? please... it's a war there.. the morality has been lost there for years..

Can you take the risk in case he will become a suicide bomber? can you risk thousands of lives?

Do you really care if he will be considered as martyr? is it really important?

There are too many dead bodies to count there and even here in the "Western" world, maybe it's time for you and other to stop using the soft gloves and to realized that those guys needs to die and they have no place in this world, they are not human beings and not even animals, they have no rights and not a single right to live!

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Part of me thinks it was a good call because the boy could have potentially killed hundreds but another parts of me find it wrong because 1) killing is stooping to their level, it's better to let him rot in prison and deprive him/them the satisfaction of being a martyr, and 2) he could have had valuable information about Isis, if they interrogated him he could have spilled information that could have helped take them down

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what it looks like to be soft

I feel sorry, for everyone involved. No one should have to kill another, let alone their own.

Shadow

This is another reason ISIS must be stopped, to prevent tragedies like this. I doubt anyone here has any idea what it is like to shoot your grandson to protect your daughter...

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

I think the right call would be to contact authorities :koons:

And what, have the bloke brainwash all inmates in prison to turn to DAESH as well? :koons:

A terrible, terrible situation that should've long been prevented. The problem here is the rate of radicalisation and how it hasn't been deterred - not the grandfather's act. Whilst I believe what he did what was right, it should have never needed to reach a stage whereby a grandfather must kill his own grandson.

In the real world however - when you consider the vast reach and impact of such extremism - you cannot be soft; you cannot condemn the grandfather for doing what he did on a basis of western sanctamonity. The reality ISIS presents the world is never going to breed good morals. Preventing ISIS - and protecting the lives of millions people, in turn - is not, and should not, be a matter of morality. The very moment you begin to campaign for the rights of extremists is the moment you enter very dangerous territory. Of course I believe in helping those turn away from radicalisation, but it is too dangerous to help (or appease) those who are too far into the ideology.

I am a believer of human rights, and I believe that the violation of these rights absolutely must be punished. The blurring between a criminal law and a human rights law is not something I usually agree with. However, there needs to be a stronger understanding of subjectivity in morality. I would not encourage the shooting of any Muslim (unquestionably so), but the shooting of someone who has been radicalised (to such a far extent) is where this subjectivity really needs to come in.

To all those outraged by this: would you be viewing this individual as a human entitled to rights after he killed hundreds of people? That's what you need to consider here.

Sorry for the rant there, but a few posts above got me thinking :emma:

* I am a left-wing thinker, but softness is clearly not going to help the world against terrorism.

The **** is wrong with you people? :wtf::wtf::wtf:

He may have done the right thing in terms of defending his daughter/the boy's mother, but killing of one human being when avoidable is generally not something to celebrate, even in this case. He wasnt heading out the door with a rifle and ammo to commit some heinous mass murder, he should've been arrested and interrogated or detained, not murdered on the spot.Callous disregard for human life is not the answer, what makes you better than the people you are condemning at that point :air:  Disgusting :rip:
