Most of the ones getting their material written for them (good or bad) tend to not be that good. And it used to be the other way round - the best singers were usually the ones who got songs written for them. Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Tina Turner have never written a song in their lives. For them, it was all about concentrating on being a good singer. But now, all singers are trying to write their own songs. If the song is good and it's promoted well, it can be a hit. That's what these labels need to get into their heads and stop forcing their talent into bland genericism. And I don't think a song is good because it's "hit material." If it's a good song, it's a good song and I don't care who it comes from or if it's radio friendly or what.
Kermit 15,807
For what it's worth, everyone can sing, if they took out the time to learn. Those who refuse to, tend to make some of the most un-appealing songs and resort to excessive us of vocal editing. “For me, insanity is super sanity. The normal is psychotic. I mean their is good music but is not mainstream and it doesn't became popular just the trash song does became popular Roro

And so often, a lot of technically good singers simply aren't making good material. But a lot of the lesser talented vocalists are actually making better material. There are ones that do both but you'd be surprised how rare it is. It's like if you're super talented in one way, you can't be talented in any other way. This is why so many winners from these reality singing shows flop after they win because while they may have the voice, they simply aren't given good songwriters. And these songwriters are just hired to make generic, bland songs too. It pains me how Leona Lewis had a voice that could have made her a superstar for years to come but her actual songs, for the most part, were bland and forgettable. You can blame it on her lack of promotion post-debut and all but at the end of the day, we know what it all came down to - songs that simply weren't good enough. But most of those singer that I mention get writer they don't write all their songs.. Anyway my point that real talent not always win Roro

I don't see the point of knocking down someone else's fav song because someone else could knock down yours. I like vocaloids. I know a lot of people don't because of their voices. I recognize that. Buut a lot of those who don't like vocaloids can agree (if they know the programs) that making a song with a vocaloid is time consuming even to get a sh!tty product. Brian Ryan 1,468
Aren't you a Lana Del Rey fan? I don't like Demi Lovato and she's far from the epitome of a great voice. There are better voices out there, for sure. I like music. I don't care who writes, composes, or produces as long as it comes out great. I'm good. Pablo 7,784
Voice isn't everything, you're right. The world greatest singer could be the worst writer and never get big enough to find a good writer/producer, where a mediocre singer could work their butt off and get all the right pieces together to become more and more popular until they get a record deal.
