Vague 424 Posted September 23, 2016 Share Posted September 23, 2016 I like it actually, more than I liked the songs I heard from her last album i think. its cute. although I just wish she'd regain some of that spark that used to make her special. From "Far" onward its like she neutralized herself and got super commercial. Her innate quirkiness dulled significantly and idk if its the label or just her maturity taking her towards something much more lowkey and subtle. but either way shes a bit boring at this point. Some on the tracks remind me of Songs, quite bare somber piano ballads. Amazing. The Trapper and the Furrier reminds me of 11:11, and Older and Taller is like a track of from Far. The album is like a complication of her previous iterations. I want to say its her magnum opus, honestly. I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you. She has such a talent for unexpected and wonderful melodies and I really should have been more hyped Grand Hotel, Sellers Of Flowers and Obsolete is my trinity right now but honestly the whole thing is sublime.
