Gay Man Set on Fire in Homophobic Attack (UK)

Police in the English town of Cleveland are investigating what they are labeling a homophobic hate crime that left a gay man with burns to his calves so severe, he needed skin grafts.

Early Wednesday in the park surrounding the burned-out shell of Holy Trinity Church in Stockton-on-Tees, police tell PinkNews that four men approached the 20-year-old victim and stopped him to ask personal questions about his sexuality.

The young man ignored their taunts and proceeded toward the street. That’s when one of the men snuck up behind him with an aerosol can. He sprayed it at the victim’s legs, then set him ablaze.

The victim described his assailant to police as a white male in his early 20s, with short blonde hair and medium build, who at the time of the attack early Wednesday morning was wearing jogging shorts but no shirt.

“Officers are treating this as a homophobic hate crime,” said a police spokeswoman, “and are asking anyone with information to come forward and call police.”

what the **** :saladga:  this planet is getting really messy :saladga:

Statistically speaking crime rates around the world are down and most countries like the UK, U.S., etc are adopting more progressive stances...it's just because of our (over) saturation of media that we know about every little thing that happens which makes it seem way worse than it used to be. Not that we shouldn't still be outraged about these things happening, just saying that it's not worth thinking the world is ending or something :emma:

Anyway, ew :wtf: I hope they catch the guy...

I actually wouldn't doubt that :duck: it's like a rubber band. We keep getting wound up, eventually it's going to snap.

I was actually talking to my friend a while ago about the possibility of another LA riot situation arising in the U.S. It seems with the BLM movement getting more attention, the police getting attacked as well (and being even more sketched out), it's going to break soon and all hell will be let loose.
