I think it's the fact that she sings it so low that bothers me. The cover you shared is actually nice. :poot:

Dope is an amazing tune. I'll never understand the hate.

Likewise.

Don't see you making one. Sit down. Calm Down and leave people to enjoy their craft.

I love Dope so much  it's clearly the best written song on ARTPOP and the one with the most emotional depth. It's one of the only times I actually don't mind the deep voice. It makes sense to me here. It's such a gem. "I'd hate myself until I die" always gets me :( I just imagine Gaga crying while writing this, thinking about Taylor, struggling to get off drugs. It's so emotional.

I sort of view Dope as the flip side to Speechless, where she's singing about her lover (she said it's about her dad but it's written more to a lover) who's a drunk and a mess. In Dope, she's instead become that person and she's begging for forgiveness. I think any person who's struggled with substance abuse could relate to this song. For me, it's one of her best.

Her raw vocals turned people off, but it's one of my favorite things that she's ever done. Dope is MILES better than that cringeworthy IWBWU
