Less than a month before the Games, according to the study, 50% of the Brazilian population is against them, and 63% thinks that the Games will bring more bad than good. In 2013, a similar study was made and back then, 25% of Brazilians were against Rio 2016. Back then, 64 percent was for the Games, a number that went down to 40% of approval in 2016. Also, 9% is indifferent to the Games. 2% of the research subjects didn't answer the question. Here is the source, in Portuguese: http://folha.com/no1793059 So, to add to the mess, Brazilian people are either against 2016, for several reasons but the most relevant being the political and economical situation of the country, or just simply don't care. I am one of the people that simply don't care and most of the people around me too, I don't live in Rio and most people just live like the Games are simply non-existent. I don't think they'll be affected. But the games have been proven to be harmful to the host cities post-Games. Hopefully this doesn't leave Rio/Brazil in a bigger mess. Iwontell 7,312 Posted July 19, 2016 Share Posted July 19, 2016 It's going to be kinda embarrassing, just like the soccer world cup was (the country is going through a deep political and economical crisis, so I don't think it's the best moment to have all attentions turned to Brazil...), and all the money spent in venues and some "futile" infrastructure could have been used in more important stuff (not to mention that the aftermath of these events is hardly ever positive), but at this point there's no reason to argue about it, really... To be entirely honest, the more I think of it, the more I convince myself that these events should only take place in developed countries...allowing a city like Rio to host it is to impose on a country that doesn't have it's **** together a lot of very expensive obligations that maybe are not priorities. They are having major crime spikes, police literally said they are unable to protect people, water is being contaminated, major disease outbrakes, and many other things. No, it's just WhatsApp, it's because justice here sometimes needs proof to solve justice problems and they think WhatsApp can make this proof available but they can't cause they don't keep messages on their server or the server is encrypted, something like that. And everytime they block WhatsApp till they give the info they need and they say they can't and it's so annoying.
