I think Calvin did just as much damage, if not more, in the eyes of the public. Kim backed up what he was saying, in essence. A lot of people will still like her and buy her music but her imperial phase is over. What I find most funny about this is instead of proving she IS sincere and not a PR machine, she uploaded a screenshot of a note & used the same caption for every social media account, and that is usually what PR teams do when they're applying damage control. This was their one shot to showcase she is, indeed, not robotic and they failed. I blame Taylor to an extent but I blame them even more because they're paid professionals that should know when it's time to reassess the marketing strategy at hand. The fact that she was not only caught in a lie, but cares about instagram likes and such just damages whatever cool factor she held - she is inherently uncool, but her teflon image and success kind of kept that under wraps for people drinking the cool aid and riding the bandwagon of public consensus. I don't think her album sells are over or anything. She makes unoffensive Grey's Anatomy background music that holds appeal for many people, much like Adele. The youngish Mormon mom's and soccer moms (& their children) the world over will still be there for her for many years to come. She is middle-American Celine Dion. She should go full on "urban" with her next album...do a drive by in front of Kimye's mansion, get a face tattoo, throw up gang signs, wear that Biggie Smalls T-shirt...it will be glorious!!!
