Mike Heath and other former league heads have gathered together to form “Equal Rights, not Special Rights,” a group dedicated to repealing same sex marriage and making homosexuality a crime — and they’re even pushing for a referendum to make discrimination legal. "There is conduct that ought to be punished," Heath said, according to CBS affiliate WGME. "And Christianity teaches, has always taught and still does teach, that sodomy is such a behavior." The new group is on a mission to collect the 61,123 signatures needed to make repealing Maine’s anti-discrimination law a ballot issue in 2017, according to CentralMaine.com. "If it's removed, what does it do?" Heath said. "It very simply moves something, a behavior that belongs in the closet, back into the closet." In 2005, the Pine Tree State passed a law banning anti-LGBT discrimination in housing, loans and public places — including service at restaurants and stores. There are no equivalent federal laws, as the Civil Rights Act doesn’t cover sexual orientation. “In many states, you could get married on a Friday, but lose your job on Monday based on your sexual orientation,” said Matt Moonen, executive director of EqualityMaine. That’s not the case in Maine right now — but it would be if the new group’s proposal makes it onto the ballot and is approved by voters. “Nobody could bring any legal action against anyone on the basis of sexual orientation,” Heath said at a press conference. “Only ordered liberty can protect everyone from the same fate suffered by bakers, photographers and innocent schoolchildren.” The Maine Secretary of State’s Office approved the wording of the referendum, but the anti-gay group hasn’t started gathering signatures yet. “The people of Maine settled this issue in 2005,” Moonen said. “What they’re trying to do is so out of touch with the values that we have as Mainers.” www.nydailynews.com/amp/news/national/maine-anti-lgbt-group-seeks-repeal-legal-protections Nod if you wanna make love with the enemy. ❤ Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

This guy in particular needs help though. When talking about marriage equality a few years ago he said this: Heath says marriage equality will lead to violence; he says he got concealed gun in anticipation: "If Maine doesn't end this decades long conflict over the evil of sodomy with an overwhelming NO vote in November we can expect to see this sort of violence in Maine in the near future. How is marriage a special right for homosexuals? The straights can get married long before people even thought of LGBT rights. You're making them equal by letting them be able to marry.
