I mean it makes sense considering the FBI basically stated if it were anyone else, they would be serving time. but they didn't because it's Clinton.

Comey said just the opposite. Where did you get this from what Comey said?

ABC News / Washington Post is a reliable pollster with an A+ rating on fivethirtyeight so I would not suggest anyone question the source.

Does this poll have any meaning though? It's pretty much consistent with most statistics about her, such as her likability and trustworthiness ratings.

Almost the entirety of the GOP and their base would disapprove of this decision, not to mention people who generally dislike Hillary for superficial reasons like overzealous Bernie supporters.

The poll results show:

1) Nearly nine in 10 Republicans disagree with the FBI’s decision and say it worries them about what she’d do if she became president.

2) Democrats see things very differently, but with less unanimity – about two-thirds approve of the decision not to charge Clinton and think the issue is unrelated to what she’d do as president. But three in 10 of Clinton’s own party faithful think she should have been charged.

3) Further, as noted, political independents side more with Republicans on the issue, with roughly six in 10 saying the FBI was wrong and that the issue raises worries about Clinton as president."

----

So that's consistent with what I said. 30% of Democrats is consistent with the number of Democrats who are tenuous with their support of Hillary such as Bernie supporters who inherently do not trust her thanks to Bernie's rhetoric (although many of them will vote for her regardless).

The independent count is also consistent given that independents have conservative leanings, so a 55/45 split and the assumption that most Republican leaning independents and many Democratic leaning or Bernie supporting ones disapproved of this decision makes it an obvious result.

Despite all that, it's understandable that many would disapprove of this result, but it doesn't imply it's not the right one. As Brexit polling and Trump supporting has shown, most voters are inherently uninformed about the intricacies of what they are talking about and a significant number of people vote with their emotions rather than their minds. GGD is an excellent representation of this really.

Looking at the outcome, Forty-five percent of Republicans say the issue makes no difference in their vote – likely meaning they wouldn’t have voted for Clinton anyway – while another 47 percent say it makes them less apt to support her. Among Democrats, the email issue makes no difference to 75%, and 16 percent say it’s strengthened their support (likely given that she wasn’t charged) – but one in 10 say they’re less likely to vote for her because of it.

Again, these are all relative and "less likely" means nothing especially among presumed Republican supporters.

Even if this issue makes the entire American base "less likely" to vote, not only are the marginal quantities irrelevant but the election is 4 months away. Anything can happen and the viewpoints will inevitably bounce back and forth as the election closes in.

There have not been many major events regarding Hillary other than the closure of the investigations in quite a while now. Bernie endorsing Hillary, the Democratic convention speeches, and the debates with Trump will be pivotal in boosting Clinton's numbers.

Politico has a great polling team, and phone polls are some of the more accurate ones actually.

I know from experience, almost every internal poll coming from the RNC or DNC are done by phone. If the database is good, you yield a pretty accurate number.

That could be because old people are also the only ones who vote, so when your old people polls coorelate with actualy voting patterns, it makes sense.

Of course Hillary is unpopular, but 56% of Americans don't realize that every politician is exactly like her? That just sounds crazy to me.

They didn't NOT state this. What they said was those who have done this before have NOT been charged and to charge Hillary would only be because of her celebrity status.

Every politician is not like her. Any other politician would have gone to jail.

PopBitch

Yeah, all the old bitter Republicans who picked up the phone to answer a survey and are furious Hill and Bill will be back in the White House, and all the bitter Sanders supporters because he didn't get the nomination.

And the poll only surveyed 519 people.  LOL

According to the practices of previous secretaries of states, members of the Senate and the House, and other political figures, any other politician would not have had this investigation opened to begin with.

This issue is blown out of proportion so damn much :rip: as if it relates to her vision on economics, education, foreign policy or the like in any way!

Her vision on economics, education, foreign policy or the like is whatever her focus groups tell her will gain the most public support. :toofunny:

It's not a problem of "what the majority thinks?", it's problem of "did she commit any crimes?"...if the competent authority says she didn't, that's it...
Besides, the majority once though slavery was cool, women should stay at home and men shouldn't marry each other...hell, they once were ok with women being burned at the stake for imaginary crimes and are still fine with automatic weapons being sold to basically anyone that wishes to have one...the majority ****s up all the time, so it's really nothing to go by...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

You are right. The majority of Americans believe angels are real, and global warming is not. We should only care what the majority of Americans think so we know how insane our neighbors our. The majority opinion doesn't mean very much practically, we are a Republic and not a Democracy.

That's delusional.

No politician ever goes to prison when they commit crimes.

I mean don't get me wrong, I don't think they go around murdering people like in House of Cards. But tax evasion, fraud, using government data inappropriately, bribery, black mail. They all do it. If they get caught, they are "investigated" and then let off.

Maybe a no name, first term member of the house would actually get prison time, you have to earn your get out of jail free cards in the American government, after all.

You keep saying that, but it is literally unprecedented that someone in an office as high as hers has had a private email server.
