I think this is just the new reality when it's easy for a few to kill many using easily available tools and technology.  There will always be people who do these things for whatever reasons.   But the death toll from these events isn't a fraction of the death toll from cars, or even doing home repair.  So as long as we don't let ourselves live in "terror", it won't be the end of us.

Well that depends on how you look at it. Terrorist attacks don't claim as many lives as people driving in cars, surely, but if you embed these terrorist groups in the context of the political struggles in the countries where they originated, you get a different picture. These countries are at war and many more lives were lost than the people beheaded in the ISIS video's. The terrorist groups are at war with "the West" on top of that. People are out to get our lives, that creates a different atmosphere than accidents claiming lives, and for good reason imo

I agree that living in terror is not a proper response (mostly since that's just fuel for rash actions that will make things worse), but on the other hand, seeing these terrorist groups as isolated phenomena that have no bearing on our own political choices is to put your head in the sand. In fact, that putting of heads in the sand of Western citizens the last few decades has directly contributed to the price we now have to pay.

oh wow I didn't see that.  well you can't deny the fact that the media is uncommunicative.  where is it hiding ? the damn thing exploded when Orlando/france/belgium happened.

over 100 people were injured or killed in an explosion & most of them were children. no outrage because they're arab and Muslim and so who really cares.

That's not the main reason. There's no need to read this much into it.

It's because the region has been permanently embroiled in tragedies that people are no longer shocked.

As a person from a country involved with many tragedies and explosions in a concentrated time frame, I can tell you that after the 11th or 12th explosion (or was it 13th?), the media becomes complacent.

It doesn't take much to see the difference in reactions an explosion in France and Iraq incur.

Of course you aren't wrong in the sense that the media you are exposed to is naturally biased towards the Western world.

Omg, the pictures are horrifying.

Bagdad bombing was the third major ISIS attack in a week. It is the deadliest attack in Iraq since 2003. The explosion was so horrific that at least 81 people were incinerated.
