Google trends since 2010 to nowadays.

Blue: Lady Gaga

Red: Katy perry

Yellow: Rihanna

Green: Taylor Swift

So even if she's not the most popular right now (only being lower than Rihanna), because of the obvious lack of LG5, she has been the most talked popstar of this decade by FAR. :interestinga:

Erm no, that only shows 2010, which (conveniently of course) is the year Gaga peaked in searches. This is the correct one.

Gaga peaks high, but Rihanna is a lot steadier and keeps getting significant peaks, while Gaga just keeps dropping. The argument of steadiness counts for every one of her competition above, even Madonna.

Oh I see, didn't see that, my mistake. But still, yours is not correct neither since we're talking about the 2010s and Gaga has been more popular overall during this decade only surpassed by Rihanna which is kinda obvious since she has released 4 pop albums since 2010 and Gaga has only released 2.

It will be interesting to see these graphics again after LG5 is released.

Well, when I read "decade" I supposed you meant from 2006 onwards. We still have four and a half years to go (if you don't count 2010 which you don't seem to do) for the 2010s, and if Gaga's search trend continues like it's going it's not gonna be good :emma: Taylor will probably overtake her and Katy might equal her.

Not really getting the "she released 4 albums" argument. Gaga released three  You can choose not to count C2C but it was an album era that gave her tons of press, so it's just not fair to pretend it's just a break which it's not. Besides, three of Rihanna's album era's got more searches than any of Gaga's post-BTW, so what does frequency have to do with it? More people have searched her name for years now, point blank :unicorn:

I'm getting sick and tired of people acting like Katy Perry and Taylor Swift are "iconic". God, it irritates me so much :grr:The only iconic singer within this last decade is LADY GAGA. No one else even comes close :crossed:

It's more about logic, you just can't compare an album full of old covers that's not aimed to be popular vs a mainstream pop album with original music. :rip: She could make a worldwide press conference about it and it wouldn't get the same treatment in the media as Rihanna's.

And it has to do with frequency because Rihanna's promotional campaigns has been more consistent: she has released 16 videos since 2011 (without counting her collabs and other songs only sent to radio) vs Gaga's 7. :rip: 21 if we count 2010 vs Gaga's 9:air: OF COURSE it makes a difference and of course people are gonna search for Rihanna more, she has been marketing herself with more intensity than Gaga over the years, and that was basically my point: if Gaga had the consistency of Rihanna's promotional campaign she could be higher than her on the graphics.

I think that's just engaging in apologetics. This thread is about the most iconic females of the 2010s. Who cares what would've happened if Gaga did this or that? A peak in the beginning of the decade and then a systematic drop, no matter what the reason, is gonna lower her position, and deservedly so. Only a Gaga fan would take into account what Gaga did less than her peers, because in the big picture that doesn't matter when you're making a list of the biggest artists in a decade.

Like, Katy has been everywhere for years too and she still couldn't beat Rihanna in any of her album era's. I get that a pop album from Gaga would've created a higher peak but there's no saying she'd peak higher than a Rihanna one. ARTPOP did not result in a peak higher than Rihanna's, so why would a string of those era's be enough to beat her?

I think I saw people in here claiming Rihanna, Taylor and Katy were higher than Gaga on the list because they were more popular this decade, which is not true for 2 of them, and the gap of popularity with the other one is not that big, so not even being more popular could be the reason they were higher.

Maybe to this day they feel more "iconic" for some since the 3 of them, specially Taylor and Rihanna, has been more present on the media lately, and maybe it's my little fan on the inside who's thinking but I personally feel Lady Gaga more iconic to this decade up to this point, taking into account that we presence with her one of the highest peak in terms of popularity in pop music history during 2010-2012, we saw the decline in her during 2013-2014 and since 2015 she's rebounding and building up the hype around her again, and we're only half of the decade and LG5 is up to be released.
