Using the 10 in the list+Beyonce

1. Rihanna (like it or not, she's the most successful artist of our generation singles wise, and to say her music isn't memorable is bs. Umbrella, SOS, Don't Stop The Music, We Found Love, Rude Boy, Diamonds, Stay, are all still very relevant)

2. Beyonce (The most iconic artist of our generation, Rihanna surpasses her only for her continued, unstoppable singles and touring success. Beyonce creates bombastic bops, and, like her or not, the girl can sing and dance like no other)

3. Lady Gaga (putting her behind Katy and/ or Taylor is a huge misjudgement. She is the reason Katy, Nicki, Miley, etc. are so provocative at times. She brought back the art of performing after Britney, which was lost after Britney's blackout/ meltdown. No one has yet to reach her peak of 2009-2011)

4. Taylor Swift (Her songwriting and history with guys is one of the trademarks of country and pop music, well deserved)

5. Katy Perry (Ehh, I personally don't like her, but, you can't deny her success and ear for hooks, and, she does deliver some bops as album tracks. Well deserved)

6. Adele (The most powerful voice of our generation and also one of the most captivating writers)

7. Nicki Minaj (Biggest female rapper of our generation and also a staple on hip-hop radio. Starships, Anaconda, Only, Super Bass are all still very relevant)

8. Miley Cyrus (Her success in Hannah Montana and transitioning into adulthood earned her this spot. Like her or not, she has an amazing voice)

9. Ariana Grande (One of the best voices of our generation, give her a couple years and I could see her higher in the list)

10. Demi Lovato (The best voice to come out of Disney ever. She has had some rememorable hits)

Them not including Beyonce is a huge screw up

I find it iconic that even during Gaga's "flop" and off eras she's just as talked about as Katy

How is Swift so iconic as to be number 1? She has done nothing memorable at all beyond her songs which are pretty cookie cutter.

Perhaps it's iconic due to popularity? I suppose. I won't deny that.

Not people here thinking someone is iconic, because their favorite song is sung by them

Iconic is such an ugly hoe on this site, it's on everybody's mouth but used in a stinky way

Gaga and Adele should be higher.

Ellie and Demi renders the list questionable regardless.

And what is iconic to you lmao..It has to do with long success, attention, impact, fame and relevancy.

Yes it does, but to me it's more than that at least by how I've understood it. To be an icon is to be a figure that is representative of a period of time or of people's opinions and feelings, and to me none of these particularly stand out as being someone who encapsulated the 2010's, except perhaps Rihanna. i.e I have a feeling that if I asked people on the street who Ellie Goulding is and if they could name some of her songs they would struggle now, let alone if we were to reflect back on this era in the future. She's famous, talented and has had great success- but I wouldn't say she is iconic. That's how I'd definite it anyway.

This isn't me in pressed stan mode or being jealous, I'm supportive of everyone on the list (hell I don't think Gaga has exactly been much of an icon throughout the more recent side of the 10's either :smh: ).
