Won't stop the illegal Chinese pirating of Gaga's music and or films. Plus when you ban something or someone you only make people more interested.

I think the bigger concern is that US movie studios won't hire her because it would likely mean that their film ends up being banned in China.

I see what you mean. Well I suppose Richard Gere still has a career, and he has always been pro-Tibet. Gaga hasn't said anything about Tibet, she only met with Dalai Lama to discuss kindness.

I'm fine with everything she does but that "treat your enemies with kindness" is just Bad and China definitely not gonna tolerate it.

Chinese market is huge. Marvel studios depends very very heavily in the Chinese market for their global numbers. Capt America Civil Warwws Marvel Studios last project and it made just under 200Million in China alone. That's huge considering the next biggest gross was S.Korea at 63M and the UK at 59M. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot more superheroes of Asian decent or Asian actors playing nornally white superheroes roles (like making Shield Director Fury black) on the big screen very soon. Only the US had a bigger gross than China at 400M.

I don't think Lady Gaga's movie career is over. She's a box office draw regardless of what she said.

Thanks for this perspective. These markets really cannot be overlooked when factoring in what Hollywood producers consider in casting their films. Right or wrong, industry insiders claim that this is the primary reason that African-American actors are underrepresented in US films --- films with African-American leads simply don't sell as well in the Chinese market and other Asian markets (which Hollywood relies on to maximize their return on investment for the films).

This is really concerning for Gaga. If Hollywood is willing to minimize an entire race to appeal to Chinese audiences, they will surely re-consider casting Gaga if she is a threat to their international profits.

I hope to see more Asian faces in Hollywood. The only way for that to happen is if Chinese audiences boycott films that don't have at least a few Asian faces.

Let's put it this way in the US, Captain America Civil War made 400 Million and just in its domestic  gross it's considered a huge success. CA is a US film. China released a movie called The Mermaid and it made just in China 526Million. The Chinese market is already more than capable to beat US domestic boxoffice grosses.

I am hopeful that it doesn't end Lady Gaga's movie career but it does affect the kind of movie roles she is considered for.

I picture Gaga as more of an art house film actress instead of a mainstream blockbuster star. Besides Gaga really belongs on Broadway.

It depends on the type of movies she wants to be in. If she wants to go out for roles in action/blockbuster type films, then yes, this will affect her. If she wants to do artier films she'll obviously won't run into much trouble there.

No.

Brad Pitt still have career after got banned for Seven Years in Tibet.

Harrison Ford and Martin Scorsese too still have career after banned producing and acting in Kundun.

The point is, there are many other market for Hollywood movies,

and there are producers and directors that are not afraid about being themselves.

As for Marvel CInematic Universe, it is under Disney, so of course they want to make it friendly for everyone.

They always do. And even more so now that they have a park in China.
