Hillary Clinton exonerated on Benghazi

WASHINGTON — Ending one of the longest, costliest and most bitterly partisan congressional investigations in history, the House Select Committee on Benghazi issued its final report on Tuesday, finding no new evidence of culpability or wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton in the 2012 attacks in Libya that left four Americans dead.

...

But the lack of any clear-cut finding of professional misconduct or dereliction of duty was certain to fuel further criticism of the length of the investigation — more than two years — and the expense, estimated at more than $7 million, in addition to Democrats’ allegations that the inquiry was specifically intended to damage Mrs. Clinton’s presidential prospects.

Her campaign was quick to respond. “After more than two years and more than $7 million in taxpayer funds, the committee report has not found anything to contradict the conclusions of the multiple, earlier investigations,” Brian Fallon, a spokesman for the Clinton campaign, said in a statement.

After a campaign stop in Denver on Tuesday, Mrs. Clinton told reporters that the investigation had uncovered nothing to contradict past findings, arguing the House committee’s work had assumed a “partisan tinge.”

“I’ll leave it to others to characterize this report,” she said, after taking a rare question from the traveling news media, “but I think it’s pretty clear, it’s time to move on.”

I still don't trust her, or the decisions of this committee. This is the highest levels of government.

And I'm still irritated about this:

Good thing you're not American and don't need to trust her :emma:

I already told you Clinton was referring to a SEPARATE incident that happened in Libya 1 YEAR BEFORE the Benghazi attacks:

Right-wing media figures are distorting a comment made by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during a MSNBC town hall, where Clinton said "we didn't lose a single person" during the 2011 U.S. military intervention in Libya. Conservative commentators parroted the GOP in berating Clinton for allegedly "forgetting" about the four Americans who were killed during the 2012 Benghazi attacks, when in reality Clinton was referring only to the military intervention in Libya, which ended nearly a year before the Benghazi attacks.

Could someone explain this situation to me in plain English? :laughga:

Basically Hillary cannot be blamed for anything that happened in Benghazi because what happened was not a result of her actions both directly and indirectly.

The only reason this investigation was made into such a big deal was because the GOP was using it to trash Hillary. They even admitted to it months ago.

All in all, the GOP spent two years and seven million dollars to justify Clinton's innocence.

This is one of many, many unfounded accusations by the GOP on Clinton and it will not be the last.

If anyone was to blame, it was the Republicans for reducing funding for international affairs abroad, including security at compounds like the one in Benghazi.

This is the official report issued at the end of the investigation.

I wouldn't exactly call the result "Breaking" though.

Well, no. That's why we needed this investigation.
