Those who can afford Gaga tickets in mainland China should also be able to travel to Macao/Hong Kong to see her, as long as the central government does not decide to muscle the regional governments into blacklisting her too.

Honestly, I couldn't be more proud of Gaga for this.   She is taking stands on issues that matter even if it risks a *lot* of sales.

She also did this in support of the LGBT community.  I remember in the very early days (2009) when Gaga was becoming famous and she was vocal about LGBT rights, and it was off-putting to a lot of fans who just loved her for her pop music.   I remember a lot of straight fans saying they felt uncomfortable by the level of "gay" in her show, or at the very least were uncomfortable being openly a Gaga fan because people would think they were gay.   They were closeted Gaga fans.  :toofunny:   And I'm sure this cost her more in sales than it benefited her.

No doubt she does do things to make money, because that's just part of the business, but when it comes to choosing between money and values, she chooses values, and I love her for that!!

I looked into it out of curiosity and from why I'm reading I think they are telling the truth

Still....receipts or it didn't happen.   :)

If someone says "I need proof" and you respond with "I've seen the proof"...and then withhold the proof, that just makes it look MORE shady.

Yeah, I don't live in China, so I don't know. It's just from what I found Googling, so not a great source.

Are any of you surprised? China is a comminist country and that is what they do, control everything. i think banning gagz is such a stupid thing to do. This whole thing would be forgotten in a week but doing this banning all it does is promote their meeting more than it would in the end. Meanwhile nobody cared about this in the western world.

It's hard to know what is true, because if you Google for evidence that Elvis is still alive, or that we never landed on the moon, you'll find a *LOT* of it, really almost a convincing amount because so many people have put so much effort into proving crazy things.  :)

So if you WANT to believe that any of these things are true, or that the Dalai Lama is a terrorist, you can find enough evidence to make you happy.

The best thing we can do is use sources that are as global and impartial as possible, and that have strong references for every claim.   From searching News sources and Wikipedia, I find no evidence that the Dalai Lama or his supporters have attacked innocent Chinese civilians.   The only reference I find is that the Chinese government calls him a "terrorist in disguise", and from what I can gather they mean a thought-terrorist spreading lies and inciting rebellion against the Chinese government, which I would not say is a real "terrorist".   And honestly, if he's trying to incite rebellion against the Chinese government, many would consider that heroic.   This is the same government that is trying to suppress any knowledge of the rebellion at Tiananmen Square.

Nah, they're always absurd. They're literally claiming islands from Vietnam and The Philippines so this Tibet situation isn't surprising.

I love you. But yes, this is exactly why this doesn't come off as a surprise to me, too. Since the news broke out that she will be planning to sit with the Dalai Lama, it's pretty much guaranteed she would have been blacklisted.

EDIT: Yas, I'm no longer out of likes. :staymad:

But seriously, China music industry ain't going to give her any extra boost. The only country that actually buy music (in Asia) is Japan.

Katy Perry, Queen of doing something supposedly and potentially more explicitly abrasive to Chinese nationalism and not getting blacklisted.

Yet another unfair standard for Gaga :icega::icega:
