LebaneseDude 6,146
Via Irish Press http://www.thejournal.ie/sinn-fein-brexit-irish-unity-2842816-Jun2016/?utm_source=twitter_self The UK’s decision to leave the EU means Sinn Féin will press for a border vote in the North. Both Northern Ireland and Scotland voted to remain in the EU, but the leave campaign was able to convince Wales and England to leave the union. “We have a situation where the north is going to be dragged out on the tails of a vote in England… Sinn Fein will now press our demand, our long-standing demand, for a border poll,” Sinn Fein’s national chairman Declan Kearney said after the UK as a whole had voted to leave the EU. Relevant: Via BBC http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-36622120 Northern Ireland Secretary Theresa Villiers has ruled out Sinn Féin’s call for a border poll on the reunification of Ireland. She was speaking after the UK voted by a narrow margin to leave the EU., although Northern Ireland voted to remain. Ms Villiers said the circumstances in which a border poll would be called did not exist. Nothing indicated that such a poll should be called, she said. “The Good Friday Agreement is very clear that the circumstances where the secretary of state is required to have a border poll is where there is reason to believe there would be a majority support for a united Ireland,” she said, “There is nothing to indicate that in any of the opinion surveys that have taken place. “Again and again they demonstrate that a significant majority of people in Northern Ireland are content with the political settlement established under the Belfast Agreement and Northern Ireland’s place within the United Kingdom.” Edited just now by LebaneseDude. hmm 979
Sinn Fein were obviously going to call for this but I doubt it would ever pass (or even become a thing). There's not enough economic unionists and the same tribal politics would come out as ever . People on the internet might suggest otherwise but they don't represent the core 'Ulster says never!!!' mentality of a devout Unionist.

The dissolving of the U.K. Will lead to a reunification of Ireland and an independent Scotland. So yeah people will be well.

I know that already... and I still don't see what's so funny about the dissolution of the UK when half of its population is expressing concern about economic struggle in the most populated part of the isles and nothing indicates that gaining its independence and re-joining the EU will set Scotland on the right path. or was that irony and you're just proving my point? you've been rejoicing ever since the referendum was first suggested... there's no way I can take you seriously. The UK was the biggest regressive force in the EU. The EU is now in a way better position to make social and economic progress again. The austerity-minded UK will no longer have a say. Important steps like a fiscal, military, foreign policy, political union are now much better, and thanks to the UK leaving the nationalists in mainland Europe will lose the economic argument (because we will finally be able to prove that the knowledgeable, aka those who studied economics, were right).
