Why did Teenage Dream take such a horrible Metacritic score?

I am guessing that you didnt actually listen to album? Cuz the album was crappy! Pearl and all other songs were so random and directionless! After the whole era was complete, a re-up was issued which contained all the huge singles, which i guess deserved high score

It depends, Carly Rae Jepsen's Emotion got 78.

It simply depends on the people writing the reviews, which is all subjective so nobody should give a sh*t about these critics and make their own opinion. Also, we don't know how it works backstage

Did you listen to the album? The 6 smash hits are on the standard version.The complete confession had 2 more hits only

It deserved way more, but it's already nice that Metacritic didn't boycott the album by giving it a very low score like all other medias bashed the album

 

On topic : Critics sucks, again someone who's "professional" gave Born This Way a 0 in Metacritic and said Gaga's new pop era is comming out right of her butthole

She said in interviews that it was her choice to not release it. Don't know what to believe

First, it's a pop album and because they reviewed the album before it exploded and Katy wasn't "It" back then. Had they known the album would have 4 no.1's, they would have rated it 99/100. That's just how critics work, they rate the popularity of the artist rather than the quality of the album they're rating. Even though I don't like TD that much, I can see the pattern of how they rate albums.

Track by track is okay, but as a whole, idk. I prefer prism.

My opinion is that the production is a bit generic in some songs and it has some cringeworthy lyrics on Dressin' Up or mostly Peacock.But overall it's a REALLY solid pop album without any fillers.It has some incredible lyrics in it (The One That Got Away for example),the melodies are really reallly memorable and great and it's catchy but not really shallow.It's not a masterpiece but it deserves A LOT more than being in the low 50s imo

I thought that teenage dream was her most famous song.  Wasn't it diamond certified? Don't quote me but I think I read that she only has one diamond certified single which is TD and Gaga has Poker Face and Bad Romance. I think they're the only female pop stars to land diamond certified hits. Personally teenage dream is my favorite track from her. Cute and catchy
