Essentially there's a middleman/thir party who does all the work for you. It's probably not as profitable as one would like at first, but you're able to sell your product as more things than just a print. Rdbubble acts in the same way, though from what I've seen, they're not as artist oriented as they are "any random sh!t you wnat on a shirt" kind of oriented. Just because other people are doing it doesn't mean you can't get your page shutdown or even sued by the owner of the photographs you use for source photos.
