It does scare me as much, but those are the crazy religious fundamentalists that have been here since the founding of this country.

Is your argument that since we already have radical fundamentalists from one religion already in the country, we should just open our boarders to any country that is PACKED with radical fundamentalists from a different religion? Thats a weak straw man argument at best and a dangerously ignorant one at worst...

Is your argument that because they've "been here a while anyway" that they aren't just as much of a problem? The current society we live in places too much focus on and gives too much power to Christians and Christianity and we have TONS of relatively "draconian" laws, practices, norms, beliefs, mores, whatever you want to call it because of that. Millions of innocent people have died, been oppressed, ostracized, etc. and people currently living in America still face the consequences of this. Many battles are still ongoing and it's all been in the name of Traditional beliefs and Values. I think this argument seems just as nonsensical as what you accused me of saying :duck: It's ignorant and a bit blind. Like, talk about living life with blinders on and lacking introspection; the epitome of hypocrisy. (Not directed at you really, just people who fail to criticize their own culture for the same things they criticize others for in general)

For the record though, my argument was that the fear of radical, fundamentalist Islam being more prevalent than any other kind of fundamentalism is misplaced, especially because most of the people criticizing (really demonizing) Islam don't see the problems in their own society, culture, and religion. The "severity" of it all is relevant and reflecting on your own culture and religion can give more weight and perspective and allow us to think clearer and with less bias.

At the end of the day, Blaming an entire religion (and its followers) for the acts of a few is bigotry no matter how you slice it  Just because you are afraid of something doesn't make it justified. No one arguing what I'm arguing is blind to the injustices under Sharia Law and Dictatorships, corrupt governments with religion informing them, etc and not jumping the gun to shout "Radical Islam!" everytime any middle-eastern person does something (regardless of whether they were even Muslim or religious :saladga: ) doesn't make people weak or "PC", it makes them smart and foreward thinking :laughga:  The solution to solving these things is not further persecution and discrimination, I don't get why people think it is or how it could ever be justified:rip:

Mmmmh they have cellphones and Facebook in Iraq.

This Facebook page is from a progressive Iraqi TV show and it has more than 70k followers:

https://facebook.com/SalamShabab

The areas ISIS has controlled don't represent the whole country.

Your whole logic about immigration is just as logical as gun control. You say banning people from those countries can prevent this attacks and that's exactly the same thing gun control would do. Gun control would prevent new guns being sold but it wouldn't prevent people from buying guns that were already sold before. Banning those people would prevent new terrorists but it wouldn't prevent people who are already here to become terrorists, which has been the main problem lately.

ISIS has spread over most of the population of Iraq. They will come with refugees, no doubt about it.

Gun control has no logic in this context. If you want to harm people, you don't need a gun. You go to Home Depot and make a bomb for 40 bucks.

Gun control stopping crime is like putting up locks on your door to keep thieves out. If they want in bad enough, they'll just smash a window. If a crazy person wants a gun, they'll go into any inner city and purchase one off the streets.

I'm saying they're not as big of a problem because 1. they are citizens and we can't kick them out and 2. Christian fundamentalists and jewish fundamentalists don't often blow themselves up. Just the words Muslims fundamentalist implies terrorist. There a reason for that if you would just turn your Tumblr PC overdrive mind off for a minute.

Stop using the pipe bomb as a counterargument. :air:

Pipe bombs aren't nearly as dangerous as automatic rifles for several reasons

1) Range. Pipe bombs explode with a specific radius. They can only do so much damage. Assault Rifles can kill people at significant ranges.

2) Duration: Pipe bomb explodes and the danger is over with no further threat other than infrastructure collapse. Unless the terrorist has access to the maps then it's not likely they will put it in a weak spot. Unlike shootings, people can escape quickly without an overwhelming fear of death.

3) Reaction: While shootings are in progress, rescue personnel cannot assist til the danger is cleared. This is unlike bombs which can be reacted to instantaneously. People can also assist others in need without worried about being shot.

etc...

Your next analogy is also flawed. Smashing windows is far more loud than picking locks. You are alerted to people breaking and entering and can have a reaction. Picking locks is far more subtle. If people want to get in they can get in. They'll just be detected far more easily.

If a crazy person wants a gun they can purchase it off the streets. The point is to make it harder for guns to be mass distributed by bypassing purchase laws etc..

I don't even get why a responsible gun owner would be against these laws since they won't be affected by them. The except is assault rifles which is also asinine because there's no reason anyone would want it beyond their own ego since they aren't used for hunting or any reasonable claim for self-defense.

You sorely overestimate how much work people are willing to put. The ease of access and efficiency in guns is what make them appealing. Otherwise you'd see terrorists running around stabbing people with knives.

It's the same logic as the Muslim ban. You keep the new ones out but you still have hundreds or maybe even thousands of citizens and residents who are already willing to be terrorists.

No one has ever said gun ban will stop crime, only mass shootings. Still don't see how that would perfectly work just like I don't see how Muslim ban would stop terrorism since most mass shootings are perpetrated by citizens.

And there's literally not even one proof that ISIS has spread over most of the population of Iraq. And most of their population has access to cellphones and Facebook.

They recruit people over the Internet. They don't need to come.

And everyone has easy access to weapons.

Lone wolves who want fame can "pledge allegiance" or say they've been inspired by terrorists and their face will be on news 24/7.

Orlando shooter had no connection with ISIS. Please tell us in which islamic law you pledge allegiance to "caliph" by calling 911 (?!) and where is btw recording of that? He claimed to be connected to Hezbollah and Al Qaeda, all 3 groups enemies of each other, it's embarrassing.

Notice how ISIS claimed responsibility, called him brother and hero, but they're silent now when new info came out about him being gay. It was not ordered or orchestrated by them.

So that ban would not prevent this.

Muslim Americans exist and they have the potential of being radicalized by divisive rhetoric like yours and Donald Trump's. What do you say to that? :duck: Bias aside its an incredibly legitimate criticism and I've yet to hear a good counter to it. We aren't gonna kick them out or lock them up like we did with Japanese people in WWII just because some people wanna generalize millions of people and see them all as potential threats :laughga:

Christian Fundamentalists don't have to blow themselves up, they just have to go on persecuting and discriminating against black people, gay people, women, most minorities really and the funny part is that a large percentage of the government and our society at large are TOTALLY okay with them doing it :rip:

"Muslim Fundamentalist" does not imply Terrorist unless you are making baseless assumptions about again, millions of people. Not everyone who believes in Fundamental Islam is part of ISIS or bombing us or plotting attacks against us on a daily basis or anything, thats just simply ridiculous :smh: The same way that not every fundamental christian at Fox News is planning on shooting up abortion clinics or killing gays or denying them services or hanging black people :air: If we aren't treating domestic terrorism, homophobia, racism, and white supremacy in our own culture as legitimate threats, why are a small number of islamic terrorists getting everyone in such a tissy :deadbanana: Are lives being lost? Yes. Can we prevent some of it? Yes. Are lives being ruined and lost because of the factors I talked about before as well? Yes. Have MORE people died to that stuff? YES. Is the media focusing on that stuff? NO.

Islamic Terrorists are not going to invade and take over America and we're doing what we can (but not everything we can~) to stop them. Discriminating against Muslims is not an appropriate step to combat terrorism and banning them totally would do more harm than good.

Spoiler

Also, The whole "Tumblr PC Overdrive" thing, like what? anigif_enhanced-19988-1394583335-1.gif
It's an immature, baseless ad hom. at best, especially since its effectiveness requires the other person to believe in the false implication that "Tumblr" or "PC" are bad things. Its like a trigger phrase or something I swear.

Crazy. Murders. Will. ALWAYS. Get. Assault. Weapons.

It does not matter how hard you make it to buy a gun. LOOK AT FRANCE! BRUSSELS! LONDON TUBES! Even the Chinese school massacres!

The only way to stop violence to to confront a culture of systematic violence against people that don't sure the same values, and that culture is called Islam. Go be gay in Saudi Arabia. Iran. Iraq. Syria. Where the BULK amount of Muslims live. Now see how long you live. THAT is a culture of hate a violence. How about we address that?

You genuinely think that a ban will stop people from entering the country? How will you be able to determine someone's religion to see if they can enter or not?  What stops terrorists from posing as Christians or non-threatening tourists simply to gain entry? What about the homegrown terrorist who could be living next door and was born and raised in the US like you and I?  What does the ban do for them when they are already here and ready to attack...?

Have you ever heard of a passport or are you just in elementary school? News flash: you gave to have one if you want to come into this country unless you cross the Rio Grande.

Homegrown terrorists are extremely rare. They're almost always somebody from the East or from a newly immigrated Eastern family. Sorry about it.

Trump seems to have changed his words a bit. I heard on that radio today that instead of banning all Muslims, now he's planning to ban people immigrating from countries with "a proven history of terrorism".

I've had a passport since 2005, so ****ing what?  You are an idiot if you underestimate terrorist organizations to the point that you think they won't find a way into a country. A ban would do nothing but deter average immigrants from entering. If you think a ban is going to stop Isis or any other terrorist organization from finding ways to get in, I think you're the one who's in elementary school. Additionally, does it ever occur to you that there's hundreds of ISIS recruiters already in the United States that don't need the support from exterior people? They find Americans and bring them into the organization. A ban doesn't stop that, THEY ARE ALREADY HERE, open your damn eyes.
