I pretty much agree. I don't want people from draconian societies coming in and bringing their draconian ideologies and homophobic mentalities.

you do realize we have som muslim members who live in the us on this site right? If they ever wanted to bring their family members to the us, you'd be against it. I find that quite sad.

You do realize that even though the US screens its immigrants, we let in a family of Taliban supporters that raised a son in a household of hateful values and he grew up and snot up a gay club on Sunday, right?

If we come up with a perfect way to screen immigrants from the Mid East, then we can let anybody in. But we continue to this day to let in supporters of the Taliban, and surely supporters of Al-Qaeda and ISIS.

Edit: and even if they aren't violent themselves, they raise kids with hateful values. Just look at Sam Bernardino and Orlando. Just look at the turmoil in the Mid East. THAT is what would be let in.

This sounds like any fundamentalist Christian tbh :emma: And those people are actually in the American Government influencing policy :air: Ted Cruz, Jindal, and Huckabee literally attended an event by a pastor preaching to "Kill The Gays" and they did not speak out against it :rip: I'm confused as to why doesn't that scare you as much as Muslims or any Middle Eastern Refugees in general that are trying to flee from oppressive dictatorships :duck:

But, if they are citizens here, you want to make sure they can get assault weapons and endless supplies of ammo?

(And despite what Trump believes is true, those born in the US are American citizens)

For or the record, I'm against ALL citizens being able to buy these weapons and ammo. Just pointing out the hypocrisy in some of these statements.

What's next? Kanye for president? or Kimmie?

You know that will happen someday right? And the worst part is, he will probably win....

Get over that. His father migrated in the 80's. The scans, problematics and laws were not even close to what they are now. Back then the Internet and cell phones didn't even exist.

Now we know all this information about him, but back then it wasn't as easy as it is now.

The ones who need to get their sh!t together are the people from the FBI who supposedly knew who Omar Mateen and his father were.

Ya'll ever consider Trump was hired by the Clinton campaign to be as ridiculous and extreme as possible to make the entire Republican party seem like a joke, therefore securing Clinton into office?

I read that like 6 months ago and I didn't really believe it but it's very possible tbh

It does scare me as much, but those are the crazy religious fundamentalists that have been here since the founding of this country.

Is your argument that since we already have radical fundamentalists from one religion already in the country, we should just open our boarders to any country that is PACKED with radical fundamentalists from a different religion? Thats a weak straw man argument at best and a dangerously ignorant one at worst...

I'm fine with banning assault rifles, but if you think that's going to end our massive shooting problem then you're wrong. Assault weapon were banned for nearly a decade in the country and it did NOTHING to curb gun violence. Now that there's the internet, terrorists can google how to make a bomb that can kill everybody in a crowded room with household supplies for under 30 bucks.

Why would a new assault weapons ban do anything if the first one didn't do anything? It would certainly do nothing to curb terrorists like this because now they can just run to Home Depot and make a bomb, no background check required.

Do you think they have cellphones and Facebook in the middle of Syria and Iraq, two of the poorest and least developed places in the world?! I'm just supposed to get over that?

We can the best central intelligence agency in the world and they weren't even able to stop a KNOW Taliban supporter and his crazy son who was already being WATCHED by the government! Think of all the hundreds/thousands of people who the FBI/CIA has no clue about that are already here. HOW could you want to let more threat in?

I understand I do not have the moral high ground here. In a perfect world where we have perfect background checks, I would love to take in as many refuges as possible. My heart really does go out to the innocent ones out there caught up in ISIS's path. But we don't live in a perfect world and as an American I want to put America's best interest in mind. I don't want more attacks. The best thing we can do to help those people stuck in ISIS's crossfire is to actually stop ISIS, not fly them half way across the world to America. That does nothing to solve the actual problem.

Yes they do have mobiles, Internet, Facebook and Twitter accounts. What are you talking about? :air:  They're not least developed nor poorest countries, they're in war.

Daesh has expensive video equipment too. How do you think they make all those propaganda videos?

Mmmmh they have cellphones and Facebook in Iraq.

This Facebook page is from a progressive Iraqi TV show and it has more than 70k followers:

https://facebook.com/SalamShabab

The areas ISIS has controlled don't represent the whole country.

Your whole logic about immigration is just as logical as gun control. You say banning people from those countries can prevent this attacks and that's exactly the same thing gun control would do. Gun control would prevent new guns being sold but it wouldn't prevent people from buying guns that were already sold before. Banning those people would prevent new terrorists but it wouldn't prevent people who are already here to become terrorists, which has been the main problem lately.
