So what's your point? We're not living in the past If christians were inquisiting people now (just like it's being done in islamic countries NOW), they would be hated as much, at least by me

So what's your point? Christianity is slowly evolving, not seeing that with Islam. Of course I'm not pinning this on all muslims, but I don't get this logical fallacy that when people bring up the atrocities some people commit in the name of the religion, the reply is, "but christianity". Both have done horrible things. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn
Leo 3,000
Guys, can anyone confirm or deny whether or not this was a religious terrorism attack? I see people calling it that, but I haven't really seen it be 100% proven as such. Like, it is just a blatant hate crime by a bigot? Did he or anyone else claim it was carried out for his faith? Before this colonization these penalties were only rarely carried out, same s*x behavior being notoriously widespread and culturally (and politically) tolerated. I'm quite frustrated seeing these comments when they could so easily be removed if people chose history over lazy prejudice. I don't live in the 1500's so I don't care what their great great great great great great grandfathers were doing and neither do they apparently. URFUTUREFAV 1,292
I live in a muslim country. Where gays are beaten if they have any "unnatural" behaviour. I can tell you one thing, islam is a religion based on peace. But muslims, at least a good majority of them, use religion to defend their thoughts. As a gay male, I can tell you that living here is genuinely hard. But I won't stay here for much longer, only 2 years left! People hate what they don't understand. A religious attack is more likely than a "bigot hate crime". He called the police before the shooting to pledge alligiance to ISIS. My point is the Gay Pride* is hurting the community more than it is doing anything good. the post I quoted is not true. *Gay Pride as in THIS: Not as in "proud to be openly gay and standing together" - Gay Pride. Imagine a homophobic or insecure person doesn't know any gay guys and has only seen that ^ Good effect? I don't think so. You're victim-blaming. Nobody is obligated to conform to what people like you, who are obviously uncomfortable with openly gay people, do or don't want to see, or else death. For the same reason that women aren't to blame for rape just because they're wearing revealing clothing, so too are gay people not to blame for MASS MURDER because they are being out and proud. Lady Gaga has, by the way, performed at and participated in many a Gay Pride festival. I marched with her at the National Equality March in 2009. How horrifically ironic, then, that one of her fans would take to the largest Lady Gaga forum to condemn the free expression of sexuality, and to blame those who would exercise that freedom for their own deaths. I think you have a lot of growing up to do. You're going to encounter a lot of different kinds of people in life, and you can either lock yourself up in a small dark windowless attic and pretend that people who are different don't exist while society moves on without you, or you can improve upon your worldview and come to terms with the fact that you are not going to like everything you see. If you choose the former route, please don't purchase a gun.
