This is how I understood, but it seems strange that he managed to shoot and kill 30 more people when they went in, unless there was an explosion? At a gay club, so I'm already assuming a hate crime and as details come regarding the shooter I sadly believe it will be linked with religious extremism. We've seen the pattern way too often. Although gun laws NEED to change I don't think that's the main issue if this is a terrorist attack. But still, we need to know how he obtained the weapon....... Many gay nightclubs have been attacked by extremists before. A gay club in Seattle has been attacked three times since 1990, two of those times being in 2013 and 2015.
