Economy 52,861
http://www.worldoil.com/news/2016/6/6/us-shale-canadian-oil-sands-are-twin-pillars-of-north-american-energy-security-ihs First of all the large oil reservers and industry in North America not only help ensure oil for future, but is also what changed the game and forced OPEC to not control market in such a selfish way. But most importantly, Canada and the US complement eachother in their dynamics... US Shale is ultra short cycled. Drilling new wells is quick but so is the depleation of each wells production. When prices are low shale activitybfalls quickly and when lrices are high it rises quickly. This hells the US be a swing producer to respond to prices. Canada's massive Oil Sands are the other extreme. Projects take up to 7-8 years to set up but up to 50 years to depleate an oil sands field. Canada contributes by being consistent where short term price changes do not affect production up or down.
