Sanders Campaign Issues Response To Media Reports Of Hillary Winning

“It is unfortunate that the media, in a rush to judgement, are ignoring the Democratic National Committee’s clear statement that it is wrong to count the votes of superdelegates before they actually vote at the convention this summer,” spokesman Michael Briggs said Monday night.

“Secretary Clinton does not have and will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to secure the nomination. She will be dependent on superdelegates who do not vote until July 25 and who can change their minds between now and then. They include more than 400 superdelegates who endorsed Secretary Clinton 10 months before the first caucuses and primaries and long before any other candidate was in the race

Ah...now I see where some Bernie supporters are getting their claims from. It's from the Sanders campaign itself.

Well the statement is already misleading.

You can't really count the votes of pledged delegates either til they vote at the convention. That's the point of delegates. They vote for the candidate on the day of the convention. The media has declared her the presumptive nominee, not the official one. How is this not true?

The superdelegates can change their opinion that is true, but what makes Sanders think he can change their minds at this point? 

It also rings of hypocrisy on his part.

As Bernie Sanders and his supporters argue that Hillary Clinton can't clinch the Democratic nomination on Tuesday - because superdelegates don't count until the convention - it is worth noting that Sanders endorsed Barack Obama two days after Obama crossed the magic number (pledged + superdelegate), saying he had become Democratic nominee.

"And Sanders' endorsement of Obama came before Clinton had officially exited the 2008 presidential race.

Furthemore, Clinton will surely have a majority of the pledged delegates. Why is Sanders so keen on overturning the will of the people, given that his message was to give them a voice?

So it seems Sanders has flip flopped several times on this particular issue.
