She does care about these people's opinion when she read it. She does care since she wrote DWUW.

1)I really doubt that she reads any of the comments about her.She is too busy for that sh*t

2)DWUW means that she doesn't care though

Please don't defend the puking thing. it was seriously not okay :rip: That's not ART. That's clickbait

Well, puking was okay in The Fame Monster era when she was successful. Nobody was complaining about it then.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

She cried on a piano with newspapers quotes about her being fat and over behind her on live television. I don't care how many times she sings "Do what you want with me", that's an admission that she cares (way too much) :rip:

If she cared way too much she wouldn't be here with us now :rip:

Well, after that period she crashed and nearly abandoned her career, feeling betrayed and abandoned by her team, the fans, the press, feeling like she had let down everybody, only to be rescued by legends telling her she should just move on and let it go, 'cause it was only a minor bump in the road.

Sorta goes against your point :poot:

It does make me laugh that she made such a big thing of the "Do What U Want" message to then spend literally the rest of the era complaining that she's misunderstood in interviews and makes a video about her being used for money and how she's evidently pissed off about it.

I think what's odd is that Gaga always seemed to be aware of the industry and how it worked from her entire persona, what she released and what she said during TF/M and even BTW yet it's like she forgot everything she knew in the ARTPOP era :air: I mean she was going to make an album about the destruction of an icon.. then she got some average (let's be real, nothing that bad actually happened during ARTPOP) reviews and reception and it ruined her entire image of herself? Strange.

One thing is to comment on the dark side of fame, another things is living through it.

I'm sure Gaga went through much more than what we know, but naturally, we can't truly understand her struggles till they happen to us.

Why do we gage GP reaction to a few comments or even 100 comments on a video? They are completely worthless.

Yeah, I agree. My point is though that the message of Do What U Want was all about her not giving a damn what people said and did but she evidently gave one hell of a damn considering that's all she really spoke about after.

Tbh it kinda angers me to hear a woman who has a mansion in california sh*tloads of money, a perfect husband and an outstanding career to say things like in this interview while my mother wakes up 4:30 every morning and works till 5 pm just to make ends meet.

I understand both view points. I do think its wrong to assume someone is happy and doesn't have problems just because they are wealthy and have a seemingly great life. As long as someone is above the poverty line, money matters little with regard to happiness. Fame is very challenging to deal with and i dont think its a situation we could understand without experiencing it.

Obviously everyone has problems and different situations but it is annoying when celebrities complain like this, especially when they're worth millions.

If fame is that bad, release lowkey if you want to continue in the business or just retire. You're set for life.

Once someone becomes as famous as Gaga is, there is no going back. She will be famous and treated differently for the rest of her life. Even if she could magically lose her fame, i don't think she would want to. I think she has a love hate relationship with it. I think once you become a known and relevant person, it would be very emotionally difficult to go back and become just another blade of grass again. As awful as fame can be, losing it would be traumatizing.

I honestly thought the whole "Actors on Actors" interview was incredibly pretentious, two super famous and wealthy women complaining about their fame on what I assume was a broadcasted interview.

I honestly cringed when Gaga claimed she never wanted to be famous... She basically decided to ignore her entire first album entitled "The FAME", and also completely contradicted the intro to the Marry The Night video ("I'm gonna be a star", wishing she could be part of the Destiny Child's video she claims to have watched on her grandmother's couch after being dropped from Def Jam, ect.).

Girl, it's okay to tell us what we all know, that you were fame hungry at one point and now that you have (extreme)fame you understand that it's a demon you didn't quite understand in its entirety before you became the #1 pop star this generation has ever seen.

Fame gets nasty so don't sugar coat it but also acknowledge how badly you wanted it before and how well off you are now. I think it comes off as insensitive to your poor/middclass fans who have to work 40+ hours a week to just survive.

*meltdown over*

Edit: and yeah I understand that she was trying to explain that even if she wasnt famous she'd still be doing what she's doing but her off hand comments about fame struck a nerve with me.

Im not convinced that she wanted to become famous, thought its definitely possible. Like she said, she wanted to have a creative career. A byproduct of a successful creative career is fame. It may be as simple as that.

She used to google/twitter herself until not so long ago, I doubt she stopped.

DWUW means that she feels the need to say she doesn't care, therefore she cares.

Yeah, until now :saladga:

A larger contrast with her early "my biggest artwork is the art of fame"; "celebrities who say they can't avoid the paparazzi are liars"; "I've managed to give my all to my fans while maintaining my privacy" etc. comments is hard to find in her career.

Part of me thinks she just knew that her success was dropping, and she just spinned everything so the cards were in her favor again, so now she doesn't have to be master of fame anymore. She can now settle for being an artist that doesn't have to outdo everyone all the time. Maybe this was her plan all along, to work extremely hard to get to the top for a few years and then stay there and relax and do what she really wanted, which she couldn't have done in her early days because she had no financial security and no platform. If that's what it is, it's quite clever. But it would also show we never know when she's playing a game :poot:
