RedOne on LG5: Summary & Discussion

So, we've been getting a ton of threads about the interviews he's given and it's all lacking a bit of structure and clarity imo

So, I decided to make this thread (which can be updated in the future) to keep it all in one place, and the discussions too

Fact list:

* RedOne and Gaga have made 8 songs together for LG5.
* RedOne doesn't know if any of them will end up on LG5.
* RedOne gives conflicting accounts of where LG5 is at the moment. (see more below)
* RedOne states that the 8 songs they made embody a mix of what the fans want and what Gaga wants. (see more below)
* RedOne considers one of the songs to be Grammy worthy.
* RedOne states that one of the songs was meant to be released as the lead single, but that this release has been cancelled.

So what about those conflicting accounts? These are the different tones in RedOne's interviews:

° Gaga is still not sure which direction she wants to go in.
° RedOne thinks Gaga is still looking for the right direction.
° RedOne doesn't know what direction Gaga wants to go in.
° RedOne states that nobody as of yet knows which tracks will make it and which will.
° RedOne states that Gaga is the only one who knows which tracks will make it.

Obviously these contradict each other, so imo it's safe to say he has no clue about what's really going on, except that Gaga's still working and he hasn't heard if any of his tracks will make it in any shape or form, which he's automatically linking to the idea of Gaga still not being sure of her vision.

Interesting passage about the fans' expectations:

"with our songs, what I tried to do was protect what the fans expect but also incorporate what she's after right now. It's a mix. So we'll have to wait and see... Anyway, I think she'll hit big, either with me or with other people. I wish her the best, no matter what she'll decide."

#. What do you think might be different between "what the fans want" and "what Gaga is after right now"?

#. Should Gaga care about what the fans want or not at all, or somewhere in between like RedOne is describing?

#. Do you think it's realistic that RedOne's tracks will end up on LG5 now that Ronson proclaimed he's producing the entire album?

#. Do you think Gaga and RedOne are still capable of making pop masterpieces?

#. How much do you think RedOne actually knows? Should he be making comments about LG5 if he's not sure about what's going on?

I'll add this:

I love RedOne but i love him even more with Gaga.

But if Gaga decides that these songs (the 8 songs) aren't great enough then I don't care honestly, I've been really patient, I still have faith in Gaga.

And what if RedOne ends up being absent from the album?

Will you be forever haunted by the idea of another masterpiece getting lost?

After listening to the messy Eh Eh, and Paparazzi RedOne versions, I'm not sure I'm 100% on RedOne

I don't want too ask too much for Gaga lol but I know that if she wants to make music videos she will, I just would like to have more music videos than 2 but if we don't it's okay. No big deal.

I'm still 90% sure those aren't real Gaga didn't write those tracks with RedOne and that seems to be the only way he's involved in her songs at all. And I don't buy the "he remixed them" stuff either. Nobody knows where those versions came from and they didn't know when they "leaked" in 2012 either.

I honestly just think someone took one of RedOne's irrelevant song instrumentals and put Gaga's finished vocal acapella on top. Some of the chords in those versions make zero sense.

What do you think might be different between "what the fans want" and "what Gaga is after right now"?

I think RedOne assumes that the fans want electro-pop throwback to TF and TFM. He might be somewhat right in saying that. I think Gaga wants something more up to her level vocally and wants to stray away from her more formulaic pop hits into something more interesting (hopefully).

I assume when you are on Gaga's level there is a lot of pressure from fans, but honestly trying to guess what fans want and trying to cater to them by trying to recreate the same thing will eventually push people away. People will get bored with more JD, PF, BR type songs. 

At the end of the day she is rich af. She will be okay. She more than anyone else has enough room to experiment and push the boundaries. She can become a boring popstar trying to rehash what has worked before for success or she can do something interesting and build an interesting career. 

I don't even mind if she tries something different and completely fails, that's part of the risk and that's what makes it exciting and that's what makes for a fascinating legacy.

I haven't thought RedOne would make the album for a while now.

Yeah sure. I mean, I don't know if he will bring the smashes, people might get bored of that whole shtick (I kinda thought that was one of the problems with ARTPOP - More electro-pop, dance routines and outrageous outfits) but I wouldn't underestimate them. 

I personally want Gaga to just try something completely different from what she has done before though.

I don't think he knows much at all really. He can make remarks about his contributions, but I don't think any of his songs will be used if I'm honest.
