I love "Judas" with all of my being. It's one of my favorite jams of the last 20 years. But at the end of the day, when stacked against the rest of Gaga's catalog, I can't help but feel like it's the "try hard" version of all the work she and RedOne did before. It's a parody of itself, in a way. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't change a thing about it and I blast it on my computer regularly while cleaning the house or in the car driving to work... but it does not have the "effortless cool" that tracks like "Monster" or "Poker Face" have. I also have to add.... if someone like Ariana Grande or Fifth Harmony released "Judas" today I would probably proclaim them as the saviors of pop music. It's THAT good. But, as an original Gaga fan, I have a different context. I know how good Gaga can be and "Judas" feels like it was more for the marketing department than the artistry.
