Democrats planning exit for Sanders

Washington (CNN) - Democrats in Washington have begun discussing how to encourage Sen. Bernie Sanders to end his campaign without alienating his legions of supporters, as party leaders grow eager to unite the party behind Hillary Clinton and provide a more robust defense for her candidacy.

In private conversations on Capitol Hill, senior Democrats are weighing how to persuade Sanders to step aside without appearing as if they are trying to strong-arm him out of the race. In a phone call last month, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid made the case to Sanders why it would make sense for him to leave the race after New Jersey and California vote on June 7, according to sources familiar with the conversation.

The widespread view, according to interviews with senators, House members and senior party officials, is that Sanders needs to see the writing on the wall himself: That he has no mathematical possibility to win the race and would be better-served to see his agenda enacted if he urged his backers to support Clinton.

"We will walk out of our convention with a nominee," Rep. Xavier Becerra, a California Democrat and active Clinton surrogate, told CNN. "We should be able to walk into the convention in a consolidating mode."

I think it would be fine if he exits June 7. It's over. Hillary will win in D.C. on June 14. 

The super delegates will not switch over to him.

But I don't mind if he goes to the convention. He has that right.

As an avid Bernie supporter I have basically accepted the system is rigged and Hillary will win because of her corporate support.  sad day. I'll vote for HC even though I despise her, because vote blue no matter who

I don't know, it's just unfathomable to me that they are this committed to a candidate with terrible favorables, little trustworthiness, almost equal polling to Trump, and under an FBI investigation, but I guess this is the hill my party is invested to die on.

Hillary will win because she has more votes and more pledged delegates. The Superdelegates will follow the pledged delegates from the state elections. 

Bernie spent more money per vote than any other candidate in the race, on both sides. He won the state's with the most "rigged" voter systems...caucuses. Bernie directly benefitted from money in politics and from undemocratic state elections.

The phrase "money in politics" doesn't mean what this sentence implies. It means overly-large sums from people and organizations that are improperly leveraging themselves politically. It doesn't mean "total amount of money spent or raised through grassroots campaign contributions". This is just an odd angle to take.

As for the topic, I think Hillary said it best in 2008:

Bernie's campaign had huge successes and even bigger failures. He should have focused more on minorities and the South. He didn't and he paid the price for it. Stop blaming the system. Every study shows he could not win no matter what.

I couldn't care less if he stayed or didn't. He can stand to cut the crap and not attack Democrats in a Pyrrhic act of vengeance and egotism.

Oh and he can fire the failed spokesperson Jeff Weaver. That guy probably cost Sanders a lot of votes.
