Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) on Wednesday fueled speculation that he could be Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential pick with an all-out assault on Donald Trump at a campaign event in New Jersey. “The issues we hear Donald Trump talking about are just so contrary to who we are as a people,” the first-term senator said at a Clinton rally in Newark.

“They are an affront and an insult to our higher angels and our best selves,” Booker added. “We have Abraham Lincoln saying, ‘with malice towards none’ and Donald Trump saying ‘with hate for all.’” Booker is seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party, having risen from the mayor of Newark to a senator with an active following on social media.

While Clinton has given few clues about who she might pick as her running mate should she become the nominee, Booker is often mentioned by political pundits as a contender because he would bring youth and diversity to the ticket.

Cory Booker probably wouldn’t mind being Hillary’s veep. It’s just a guess, but the New Jersey senator was effusive in his praise of Clinton as she toured the state ahead of its June 7 primary. Appearing alongside Clinton and Jon Bon Jovi at a rally in Newark, he said, “I hate to contradict Bon Jovi but, dear God, Hillary Clinton you give love a good name.”

He then dedicated a Maya Angelou poem to Clinton, reciting the first verse: “You may write me down in history / With your bitter, twisted lies, / You may trod me in the very dirt / But still, like dust, I’ll rise.” Later, when Clinton was asked if Booker was being considered as a vice presidential pick, Booker gallantly stepped in to say, “I’m already her VP. Her vegan pal.” (Booker is vegan.)

Who do you think Hillary should pick as a VP? I personally think Bernie is a stark improbability at this point given his recent antics, and Elizabeth Warren seems to be eyeing a leadership position in the Senate's finance sector. The rest are likely possibilities, although I think Julian Castro would be the best bet.

I wish the poll was multiple choice. O'Malley impressed me early in the primaries...I forget why but he did :emma:

I can imagine the GOP meltdown if she chose someone with the name "Castro" :rip:

I know but they both refuse to rule it out so they must think they can do something in the position?

Perhaps. Warren would be a dream ticket to many and I'm sure she's aware of that.

Sanders hasn't said anything because he's still in the race.

Yes. It would bring the left wing of the party over so much quicker. I don't think any of the other candidates would add much to the ticket. Julian Castro, she doesn't really need him for Latino's anymore, Cory Booker wouldn't really add much enthusiasm, and being a black man with a woman the ticket might turn off some white men. Apparently she really gets on with Tim Kaine so he would seem like a safe choice.

Lion Heart

I'd say Elizabeth Warren.

That would please the more liberal Democrats (and SOME Bernie supporters). On top of that she's well-qualified for the duties of the Vice President.

Tbh I don't know much about Cory Booker.

Abraham Lincoln, a Republican.

I'd like her to pick Warren.
