This irritates me because if the parents weren't stupid and were actually watching their child, no one would have died. Watch your kids. Especially in situations like this. Common sense.

There was a part of me that opened this thread thinking that it would be happy and the gorilla would be friendly and playing with the child  How did the child manage to fall into there?  There really needs to be a lot more security with enclosures, it seems like people getting in happens way too often.

Glad that the child is safe, I hope they're not traumatised or anything

Oh my god... I've seen this at Twitter. I'm against killing animals but I don't know any other solution how they could save the child.

I heard an animal behavior expert on CNN say the gorilla was most likely stressed because he's used to seeing people far away and he didn't know how to respond since there was one inside there with him. The man also said the gorilla was most likely curious and trying to assert dominance, which is why he dragged the child at one point. However he said it can be unpredictable to calculate what the gorilla would've done so he had to be killed

Yeah I can totally understand their reasoning to kill the gorilla  Prevention is better than cure though, the ideal scenario is that they'd have a more secure enclosure and/or that the parents would be keeping a closer eye so this wouldn't have needed to happen in the first place
