Can someone explain to me Wikipedia's "claimed" and "certified" sales?

If I were her I'd invest a few mils in opening up a GAGA only shop and ship 500M worth of all my singles and albums and remix albums and promotional singles now that's how you do business  #LittleManagers

shipping an album like ANTi or Magna Carta is possible, but I think that's a distinct possibility too

It was really hard to count sales before there was Technology. Most sales after 1990 are hard to prove, due to the different economical evolution in each country.
