Here he goes with more threats against the convention

Via MSNBC and Civil Rights Movement

Rachel Maddow Friday night broke news that attorneys for the Bernie Sanders for President Campaign have just sent a letter to the Democratic National Committee formally demanding the disqualification of two Democratic Party platform committee chairs: former U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, and Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy.

Maddow notes that DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz gave Bernie Sanders a "big concession" by allowing him to choose one-third of the members of the Democratic Platform Committee when the rules state the DNC Chair gets to choose them.

She then shows the letter from Sanders' lawyers, and says, "the Sanders campaign is lodging a formal credentials challenge against the chair of the platform committee and the chair of the rules committee."

The letter calls Rep. Frank and Gov. Malloy "self-proclaimed partisans intent on marginalizing" Sanders Campaign supporters.

She adds, "the Sanders Campaign then ends this letter with a threat. If the Committee doesn't kick Gov. Malloy and Barney Frank out of those leadership positions the Sanders campaign will essentially grind the process of the convention to a halt."

"They will gum up the works so nothing happens."

What Maddow doesn't clearly state is the reason the Sanders Campaign is requesting Frank and Malloy be disqualified is that they have been critical of Bernie Sanders. She also does not note that Sanders appointed Cornel West to the committee, and he has repeatedly been highly critical of Hillary Clinton.

----

Relevant excerpt:

Mr. Frank’s animosity toward Senator Sanders dates back decades. In 1991, while serving alongside Senator Sanders on the House Financial Service Committee, Mr. Frank accused Senator Sanders of “unduly denigrat[ing] the institution and a lot of the members” of Congress. After Senator Sanders won the New Hampshire Democratic presidential primaries [sic] in February, Mr. Frank wrote an opinion piece in which he professed his “resentment” toward the Senator. And Mr. Frank’s invective against Senator Sanders has only intensified as Senator Sanders has notched additional primary victories.

Governor Malloy has unfairly ascribed blame for national gun control laws single-handedly to Senator Sanders, referring to the three-day wait provision of the Brady Bill as the “Charleston-Sanders loophole.” Malloy has even ventured that Senator Sanders should be “held accountable” for the “death and destruction” cause [sic] by his “mistakes.”

Coming for Barney Frank now :saladga:

Apparently people can't be critical of Sanders. If they criticize him they're the enemy and corrupt politicians :sis:

He's totally fine with people who criticize Hillary though like West. As always, bad things are good when they help Bernie, like superdelegates :emma:

All this despite the DNC giving him significant concessions so far. :unicorn:

You give a socialist an inch, and he asks for five more   :diane:

There's a difference between being critical and and having a "resentment".

Why is it OK for Sanders-appointed Cornel West to resent Hillary though? This hypocrisy is as clear as day.

Can't people have strong opinions while remaining fair in process anyway?

Barney Frank is a gay American political hero. He needs to show some respect

That's the point of the letter to the DNC. Barney has crossed the respect line.

Why are you not addressing the fact that Sanders appointed someone who has clear resentment towards Hillary while simultaneously demanding that someone who has spoken against him in the past be disqualified?

What are you even talking about respect though? Sanders is quoting an anecdote from 30 years ago to justify the disqualification of someone today. He wants to disqualify Donnel because Donnel only criticized Bernie once regarding the gun issue.

I'm sorry but this is outrageous. Sanders has crossed the line here.

I can't believe that people are coming for Barney Frank of all people. I can't with this :diane: ...sigh.

"For Malloy, the campaign pointed out that the Connecticut governor is an "avowed loyalist of the Clinton Campaign, he is an incendiary critic of Senator Sanders. While justly criticizing 'Donald Trump and his extremist agenda' in press remarks, Governor Malloy has gone on to draw pejorative comparisons between Mr. Trump and Senator Sanders.”

Also, Barney compared Bernie to McCarthy :rip:

They think there's some bias, so they're addressing it. it's not like the DNC must follow through.

Lol the McCarthy comparison :rip:

Still it's disconcerting that Sanders is fine with Cornel West when he wants less bias. Hillary didn't complain about Cornel.

I doubt the DNC will.

The system is totally rigged and in favor of the establishment. The only way Bernie could have beaten the corrupt system is if he won with large numbers like Trump. He should have attacked Hillary and the corrupt Democratic Party from the beginning. It's a little too late now.

Not just Hillary, but the current leader of the party, the country and of the free world- President Obama. Cornel West has disrespected Hillary and Obama and no one is asking him to step down from his newly appointed spot.

Bernie snd his team are desperate and beyond ridiculous. You are correct, Barney Frank is an established and highly well-respected member of the party and in the political world in general. This reminds me of Trump dismissal of Elizabeth Warren as someone who "has done less in the U.S. Senate than practically any other senator."

I hope the DNC tells Bernie to **** off!
