Ehh, I don't know if I'd class that as "Pop" though. To me it seems to miss key conventions of the genre. While obviously a popular song, I would classify it more as bluesy-soul.

IT would be like comparing Slave 4 U by Britney to I Will Always Love You by Whitney. Like, sure they are both popular songs but Slave is the pop song, with Britney being a pop star.

Jewels N Drugs singlehandedly redefined the standards of pop music. It also invented hip-hop, and pancakes.

Don't hate me but this is exactly how I feel about Applause. It's absolutely timeless to me and it is literally the most catchy song I have ever heard in my life. I consider it a masterpiece very dear to my heart. 

Bad Romance isn't really that great, it is just popular. It's a good song, but even Telephone is a better pop song, which I also consider a masterpiece.

I agree about Applause.It's incredible  Bad Romance,Judas,Applause are my favourite Gaga songs ever

Depends how you define "best" and "pop". I like to think of Pop as more than just "what's popular at the time" or "popular music", but a genre of music that is focused on commercial appeal, catchy hooks, digestible lyrics and themes, and a generally typical Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Chorus song structure, despite having variable production. (pop borrows from all genres of music in terms of production, etc. for example, all of "Dangerous Woman" is pretty much pop, but there are songs with rock influences, disco, r&b, urban, edm, etc.) That song structure is indicative of probably most mainstream music these days, but its still part of my definition

For me, no. It's up there though. My top 5 of the 2000s for sure though. 

I think "Run Away With Me" is my #1. It does more for me. Although maybe the lyrics to Bad Romance are more "intelligent", I think Run Away With Me's lyrics (along with the whole album tbh) are oozing with character and well emotion in a way that's really overlooked. It's all SO subjective though, so who cares really

NNN, this seems like you are just throwing words around tbh  Maybe this is your interpretation, but I'm going to offer another one  

Dear Future Husband, like many of Meghan's early work is basically a song CELEBRATING traditional gender roles and embracing them from a female's perspective. Her alleged attempts at feminism are basically "Women should be able to do this! *insert positive thing* But only if this, amirite? *insert negative thing*" One step forward two steps back.

"Highlights" isn't necessarily a good thing either.  The song is all about how men are expected to do certain things and behave in certain ways and that she is going to continue to enforce those social norms; basically her future husband better be a man who is sufficiently okay with these norms or okay with feeling pressured into doing so, because if not then he has no chance with her. That's all kinds of... well gross I see absolutely nothing about "being respected as an equal and free to do as she wants" at all in the lyrics, video, her personal statements about the song, anything. Unless that is requiring her partner to follow outdated gender roles

Bad Romance is out of this world. It is the end of the 2000s kissing the 2010s but harkens back to the 1950s (noir), 1980s (gothic + techno) and 1790s (Gothic + neoclassical). Such an unlikely love song.
