Redstreak 6,653
I know they were both invited to do a cross party debate and Sanders approved, does this mean Trump did as well?? EDIT: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-tells-kimmel-hed-be-willing-to-debate-sanders-for-charity/ hmm Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~
LebaneseDude 6,146
Good. This can help Hillary, assuming Bernie doesn't reference her negatively. I'm not sure why Trump would agree to it though. Edited just now by LebaneseDude.
FATCAT 60,968
I never thought this would actually happen. Trump agreeing to do this is.. odd. Maybe Trump thinks Hillary's FBI recommendation won't go too well.. otherwise, he can only lose from this. Even if he wins, he gains nothing. Plus he probably thinks it will make him look good to agree to a debate after Hillary declined. I mean, with her being the presumptive nominee and not attending, it's two hours of her opponents discussing policy and you know Trump won't keep her name out of it, however she won't be there to say anything back, and you know something like this would draw a huge crowd. I also just read that the proceeds are going to charity, if it works out and actually happens. If Hillary does get the nomination, Trump can use this as leverage. Not to mention many of his voters, who are under the assumption that Clinton will clinch the nomination, only follow him because their livelihood depend on it. Take the West Virginia coal miners, for instance. Hillary wants to "put them out of business" while Trump says "It's gonna be so great, it'll be fantastic". They're only voting for him because he's the only working class candidate that they see. (Trump isn't a working class candidate, but in comparison to Hillary, he's the last resort) This isn't a large chunk of his support base, but it's enough for November. Do you honestly believe Trump is being sincere? Out of all his lies, how could this not be sketchy? I'm not saying Bernie isn't a viable candidate. I'm just saying that Trump clearly isn't supporting him because he thinks Bernie is a swell guy. He's just going to try to use this debate as an opportunity to make a fool out of Sanders, while failing miserably, because Sanders is a much better candidate than any of those Republican clowns he faced. In any case it's clear that Hillary will come up because Trump is going to use this as a platform for the general in order to nurture the divides in the Democratic Party. It's hosted by Fox so the questions are going to be tough for Sanders but I'm sure he can manage it. It doesn't matter how Sanders presents himself. This won't change the outcome of the nomination. Either way, this will benefit him and as well as Hillary because Sanders will make Trump look like an idiot (well... help emphasize that fact) since he'll be able to go all out with no holds barred since he has nothing to lose or risk for the general. The only hope is that he doesn't actually trash Hillary himself, for his sake and Hillary's. Considering the debate is on Fox, he'd actually end up only damaging his own credibility. Hopefully he'll not let Trump talk about Hillary (or any Democrat really) without switching the conversation back to policy. That's his best way of coming out with a win for him. The West Virginia primary is over. What Sanders can do is try to convince the workers that converting their jobs to clean energy is the way to go. That'll help everyone involved. No, I mean the network, they haven't actually made any public plans about which network the debate will be hosted on.
