Adele is reportedly set to sign a $131 million (£90 million) record deal with Sony Music.

The Rolling in the Deep singer is reportedly about to close a deal to move from her current label XL Recordings to Sony Music, and the staggering $131 million contract will bring her fortune to $254 million (£175 million)

“We have secured the biggest music star in a generation. This is massive," a source told the publication. “Adele’s deal with her original label XL expired and we’d an existing relationship with her in America...

“The deal is being worked on by our Columbia label in the US, but is worth £90million and gives Sony the rights to release her future music exclusively around the world.”

The contract will reportedly be the most lucrative contract given to a British artist, topping the $116 million (£80 million) British pop star Robbie Williams was paid to move to EMI in 2002. It will also be the largest ever deal handed to a female musician, with the previous leader being the late Whitney Houston, who was given $102 million (£70 million) by Arista in 2001.

Adele, who was already named Britain's richest female musician in the 2016 Sunday Times Rich List, with an estimated $123 million (£85 million) fortune, earlier this year (16), has her manager Jonathan Dickens to thank for the new deal.

"Jonathan's been putting it together for a couple of years. He was very aware of her worth in the market and stood firm to push for the £90 million," the music source added.

Lord Temptation

Just the other day Daniel Craig declined $100 million (!) because he didn't want to do any more Bond films.

It seems like studios are throwing massive sums of cash at "sure bets" lately.

For years now all we've been getting from Hollywood has been sequels and "reboots".

And in the music business, we have Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy, Britney, Lorde, Haim, Iggy, Ariana and of course Gaga due new albums and tours this year alone!

Are financial analysts that desperate to show good numbers for their budget forecasts and justify their existence?

Can things really be that dire?

Seems like everywhere you go all the hoarders of cash are desperate for safe places to store their money.

I sense something big looming. Something big and scary.

Why sign with a label that abuses women's rights and does everything in their power to ruin a pop girl's  career and protect an alleged rapist? Music not the bling? Yeah right...

Not when you think 3 million bought the album in its first week, in the US alone.

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Doesn't she know that sony is the reason why kesha is still struggling to release music? I don't get this move? Is she hungry?:green:

But this is obviously more recent and fresh in people's minds...like does she not see what Sony has done when it comes to mistreating and harming their artists? I wouldn't want to be part of that but for some...money speaks louder than actions...

DWUW went #9 in UK and #13 in US w/o an official video either and the little delusionals call it a flop.

At least WWWY has the live performance to serve as an official video.
