Kesha Covers Bob Dylan at BBMAs 2016 (ADDED AUDIO OF PERFORMANCE)

KESHA ABSOLUTELY SLAYED HER BBMAs 2016 PERFORMANCE. She covered Bob Dylan's gorgeous song "It Ain't Me Babe," the song she said she was to perform soon after she originally was banned from performing by her label. She really showcased her vocals and her abilities as someone who can convey emotion as a storyteller. It was surreal. It makes me even more excited to be seeing her live in June at Pittsburgh Pride.

UPDATE: May 25 - looks like there still isn't a full performance vid yet, but there's a video of the audio:

ALSO: While this is NOT the BBMAs performance, Kesha and Ben Folds did the Bob Dylan cover at the Orpheum the other day. Here is Kesha's rendition of the song in full, for those who want to hear her sing the song. Once a good quality full length video hits YouTube, I'll add it to this OP as well.

She did good. Did not like the hair with that outfit though, it distracted me a bit.

She dresses so much like Gaga , not saying she copied her but

she looks like a strong, fighting woman here. The fact that Gaga wore a similar outfit at the Women in Music event just makes me appreciate them both as powerful and confident women.

Even the wig (or hair) reminds me of Gaga. Also the fact that they both established their careers as dance/pop artists and yet paying vocally demanding tributes now

Why do I sense a strong sense of friendship/inspiration here?

Kesha did such a wonderful job :diane:

It pains me to see one of my faves go trough such a shitty situation in her career and life, but I'm so glad that she's finally showcasing her talents to the world. I couldn't be more proud! :diane:

I do admit, I'm not a fan of her current hair style, either. I don't think it looks bad on her or anything, but it's just my personal taste. I did like the outfit though!

I made that connection too! :woohoo:

I really do think Gaga and Kesha are genuine friends. Even before the photos of them spending time together and Kesha's reports of her and Gaga speaking often, I always drew a connection between Gaga and Kesha based on how their careers progressed. Like, The Fame = Animal with the first bops and the hits everyone will remember, The Fame Monster = Cannibal with the eight tracks, edgier sound, and rerelease of the debut + a handful of other legendary bops, and Born This Way = Warrior with putting new influences on their trademark sound, '80s rock and roll on Born This Way and country/folk on Warrior.

There's a petition going around to get some huge women artists to join Kesha at Pittsburgh Pride, and Gaga is among the women on the list. I'd absolutely die and go to heaven if Gaga joined Kesha at Pride in the Street 2016 in my city.

That's what I thought too! I was reading their discography and noticed how similar the pattern of their releases are.

I think that the outfit is good and so is the hair, but the two together kinda make her look like a little boy at church is all. It's fine though, it's not like her outfit is what people cared about anyway.

A little off-topic and I don't know if you're a fan at all of Lana Del Rey but Lana's releases sort of mirror Gaga's and Kesha's as well, with Born To Die once again having the iconic first hits, Paradise having eight tracks a little edgier than the debut being added on to a re-release of Born To Die, and Ultraviolence being her "Born This Way" with the addition of some more rock and roll and organic instrumentation. You could even go far to say that Honeymoon was like her ARTPOP cuz of the adventurous things happening there and the throwback to her original hip hop influenced sound ("High By the Beach," "Freak," "Art-Deco") kinda like how Gaga throws back to her The Fame sound and image in some ways with "G.U.Y" and others.

I hope Kesha's performance is a turning point for her in the eyes of the GP because so many people still dismiss her as nothing more than that trashy "Tik Tok" party girl drunk on Auto-Tune. But there she was tonight slaying a Bob Dylan song!

I don't want to sound rude and I certainly don't want to offend anyone, but I feel like Kesha's team has always been trying to copy Gaga's release pattern/sound/imagery/everything, and what they got in the end was just a less successful version of the original :emma:

I think even Gaga could have suspected that in the past, but it seems like they are good friends now, and I'm glad that they are. even if I think that Kesha and her team copied Gaga quite a few times, I've always liked her bops.

come thru, gurl :sis:

Nirvana

I just watched the video clips in the articles, so emotional, beautiful vocals! She did great job! :flutter: I hope she can get free and showcase her vocals more in the future.

Nah, I don't think you sound rude. You sound honest yet rather respectful in your post. :D If you read one of my posts a little ways up from this one I mention to TomHardy that Lana Del Rey's releases and progression also sort of mirror Gaga's release model with how she progressed with her music and stuff.

Trust me, when Kesha did with Cannibal what Gaga did with TFM, at first I was like "Kesha gurrl this reminds me of something" and then Lana did the same with Paradise and again I was like :wtfga: but at the same time it's never bothered me. Maybe it was a label trend. I don't know if Gaga was THE first one to do it but out of some of the other pop girls of her generation she may have been the first one, definitely before both Kesha and Lana.

Besides, if anyone's gonna copy someone's slay strategy, might as well be smart and do what Gaga does. :firega:

Not a fan of Lana but I can see the connection based on your description.

I never thought Gaga would collaborate with Kesha but at this point, after all the changes Kesha's been through, Gaga MIGHT just as well sing with her.

And I never wanted Gaga to collaborate with Kesha because Kesha wasn't that good as an artist before, but now I respect her so much more, and certainly wouldn't mind a collab.

I don't want them to sing a dance song together though, I want them to deliver a mid-tempo song or a ballad or something like this.

For some reason, they EXUDE intense feminism.
