Technology won't destroy us, we will... and sooner than we think. Only if the stopped with the 'progress' that drops jobs and let families die (that's to much ). We already have enough. Contamination is another big problem but that's off topic.

They have implemented this in many chains, like McDonalds and Panera Bread. Both stores only had one or two people work a cash register (for people who pay cash) in addtion to the seven or eight kiosks. Honestly the kiosks are great and work very well

I think it's stupid. People will get mad at liberals or anyone else for thinking people should have livable wages but they'll give a pass to the c*nt that says "we can't afford to pay our employees any more than we already do" and then proceeds to raise his own wage by 368%. They'll cut costs wherever they can to put more money in their own pockets and that is absolutely disgusting.

nonsense. This would be done regardless. Technology is going to displace more and more jobs in a variety of markets.

Jk. But seriously, this was expected. Raising minimum wages increases unemployment. Its a no-brainier and common sense. I wonder what @Economy thinks of this.

the remaining workers get more pay. The ones who lost job will eventually find another job and be productive elsewhere

firing people because of technology giving higher productivity per worker is what allows us to devote so much spending and labor to luxury industries such as movie theaters, hair cuts, vacation resorts or any other luxury u can think of

 

In the past, almost everyone worked hard and all they could afford was food and basic shelter

 

People dont understand that people being replaced by machines in the long run improves all our lives. Maybe not innitially for the person who losses job until they find another one. But as a whole everyone benefits

 

We can produce like 20X more per person now than 150 years ago. Unenployment didnt go to 95% cause we need 1 person instead of 20 for something...

 

its cheaper to produce, competition makes companies pass on the savings in which in turn ppl can spend on other stuff and support new industries

The increase of minimum wage has NOT matched with the increase in the cost of living. The fact that these businesses pull this **** and blame the cost of paying their employees is ridiculous. If the higher-ups can make hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars, they can afford to pay their employees doing the grunt work a living wage. 

Furthermore, I'm a firm believer that if you can't deliver a quality product AND a fair work environment every step of the process, then maybe that product just isn't something you should be making. Not to mention, I'm not even pressed if a bunch of fast food joints would have to close down because then that just makes more space for local businesses who might actually give a **** about their workers and local community more of a chance to actually succeed. 
(Wouldn't it be nice to visit a town and have the chance to see what kind of food that specific town offers? Making each community a little more special and connected to the thing that literally gives you life- a meal?)

Like when companies ship work overseas to get cheap labor- yes, they're saving money, but at what cost? They're valuing saving a buck over actually caring about the workers put their time in. 

So I say screw Wendy's and their empty calorie products. People are more important. 

 

EDIT: I should clarify- I'm not against incorporating the technology, I'm against Wendy's supposed reasoning.
