If she performs on live TV she'll have to get payed differently than if she performed without an official recording. Her contract says that all media distribution of her music or her image is under the management of Dr Luke, but when she performed at the event or at Coachella she didn't get official media distribution or recording. Ah, I see, that makes sense. But for this event, wouldn't Luke get paid as well if she performed? So why would he say no? It's his loss, literally, or not? She is questioning the merits of these kind of contracts being legal, why these situations (owning women/men by commercial contracts) are legal in the first place, which is a legitimate concern imo. Its not owning the person, its just owning their commercial music career. Yes it is a horrible thing but its not a gender issue, its a issue with business that is used against men and women. I know it's not literally owning the person per se (this is not slavery) but the commercial work/product of said person, hence commercial contract. But the way these contracts are managed make it sometimes very restrictive for the artists, to say the least. That's the point of Gaga's message and I don't see any gender issue in what she's saying, like you seem to do. No they dont.. its a money business issue, business men dont care if your a man or a woman aslong as they can steal from you. Like I mentioned, it happened to Michael Jackson, Prince and many other male artists and a boy group band I forgot their name actually made a documentary about it.
