Yeah, middle class single people who get HIV don't have thousands of dollars to treat it every year. They have to take government subsidies. It's a must. HIV does not need to be un-stigmatized if we have the power to scare people into safe sex and end the awful disease. Trust me I have loved ones with the disease and it's a awful reality to say, but it's necessary and they have agreed with me that kids need to be scared straight and they wish someone scared them straight when they were a kid. What do you aim to achieve with "de-stigmatizing" HIV? People's feeling not being hurt? Give me a break. It'll lead to more less safe sex.

I don't see how that correlates to destigmatization when it comes to law and the workplace though?

Let's talk in more realistic terms here.  Nobody should hide their STD/HIV/AIDS status. However, if you are going to have unprotected sex, then you need to accept responsibility over the situation at face value knowing the risks that naturally come with unprotected sex.  Forget about the legal aspect to this, but the mentality that everyone else should ensure that you stay STD-free isn't something you should rely on to stay clean.  Nobody in this world is going to look out for you the way you can.  Some guys are pigs, they will engage in unprotected sex with you fully knowing what they are doing. Some guys don't even know their status. Some guys will lie repeatedly just to have sex with you.  No law will prevent that because it still happens and trying to prove it is ridiculously difficult.  I totally understand where you're coming from and I agree that people should disclose this, however, life is not always fair and no legal ruling would make any STD just disappear.

The mentality where you fully trust and rely on strangers is the type that causes you to get a STD.  The whole "its everyone else's responsibility" bit might be legally correct but we need to be honest as this does not fare well in the real world.  Personally, I believe that you should disclose your status to partners.  But, I am not foolish enough to trust someone who's horny, looking to get off and will say anything to engage in unprotected sex.  Use judgement here, yes they should do the right thing but in real life people don't.  Protect your body.  I'm not saying don't have sex, because it's one of the most natural and healthy human forms of connection, I'm just saying don't always trust people in the heat of the moment.

Transmitting HIV is fatally negligent at best and homicidal at worst. I couldn't give a f*ck about the feels of HIV+ people or their stigma when it comes to serving justice.

HIV postive people are not criminals, they are you, me, your neighbor. that one cute guy u saw in the club. getting rid of the stigma and the misconception that people with hiv are "dirty" or "lowlifes" is where we need to focus on the root of the issue. also, there are levels of the disease, someone can be hiv+ but undetectable, meaning even without a condom there's high chances they won't even affect their partners. with that gray are in affect, you can't blanket punish those who transmit hiv to others, whether its by accident or negligence. 

if we create a less shameful, and more sex-positive outlook on issues like this, people can be more aware and not feel ashamed of getting tested while still being able to sexually express themselves how they please. 

your answer is not the solution, its quite poisonous and dehumanizing.

That's absolutely moronic. 

I'm not trying to criminalize having HIV. I'm saying we should keep criminalizing the transmission because that's the only way it's going to stop being transmitted. I'm trying to protect the people who actually get infected by HIV through the justice system. Imagine if someone willingly gave you HIV and withheld the information that they were positive. If we didn't have these laws, you wouldn't be able to sue him/her in a court of law. That is the tragedy here. At least HIV victims are protected under the current system. 

Thats the problem with you diehard bleeding heart liberals. You care more about the feelings of HIV+ people than you do about justice being served for the victims that get infected. It's infuriating. 

Also, you may not know this because you're probably still a developing teenager, but you don't win an argument by starting it with "youre and idiot". One, because that turns people off from what you're saying, and two because you spelt it wrong

Don't believe I ever asserted sending someone to jail for purposefully infecting someone with an STD would  eradicate the problem. Bottom line is you deserve to punished if you infect knowingly infect someone. I'm sick of people making excuses for sh!t like this.

Looks like you are the idiot here. No one is saying we need to criminalize people who have an STD, but we SHOULD be punishing people who knowningly infect their sexual partner.  People who do that do NOT deserve my compassion, they're sick pigs. I have no respect for ANYONE who knowingly sets out to destroy someone's life.
