However, I truly believed this was staged by the Russian government. They knew it would happen, now they get to be the good guys, and everyone is forgetting they are at war with Ukraine, and they already killed many people, not to mention Crimea annexation. Disgusting. Eurovision has has been a political play for way too long, and I am sick of it. It is partly EBU their fault in my opinion. They knew about this law and the situation between Russia and Ukraine. Everything was messy with the organization in Ukraine this year, it's not the first scandal that's happening in Ukraine 2017. EBU was able to host the contest in Germany instead of a (political) war land. Eurovision was made to bring countries together and to unite them with music. Now it's becoming the opposite and that's a shame. I hope EBU will learn from this and won't let countries like Azerbaijan, Russia or Ukraine host the contest in the future if they don't allow countries or artists. I just don't want politics in something so cheerful like Eurovision. It's really ruining it. 3 hours ago, Erotica said: According to vesti.ru Russian Channel 1 has stated that Julia will go to Eurovision in any case. Bellatrix 34,810
A new update from the EBU regarding Ukraines banning of Julia Samoylova: "Taking into consideration that this ban might be upheld by the Ukrainian authorities, and in order to maintain the non-political nature of the Eurovision Song Contest, the EBU has been working hard to find a solution to this situation and has taken the unprecedented move to offer Channel One Russia the opportunity for Julia to still participate in this year’s Contest by performing live in the 2nd Semi Final via satellite. Should the Russian entry qualify for the Grand Final the same solution would apply. This is something that has never been done before in the Contest’s 60 year history but, in the spirit of Eurovision’s values of inclusivity, and this year’s theme of Celebrate Diversity, the decision has been taken to ensure that all 43 entrants are given the opportunity to participate. Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor, Jon Ola Sand said: "We are continuing our dialogue with the Ukrainian authorities with the ambition to have all artists present to perform in host city, Kyiv, which is, of course, our preferred option. It is imperative that the Eurovision Song Contest remains free from politics and as such, due to the circumstances surrounding Julia’s travel ban, we have felt it important to propose a solution that transcends such issues. We have offered Channel One Russia the opportunity for Julia to perform live via satellite as it is the EBU’s intention that every broadcaster that has chosen to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest does so, as has been the case for all previous events in the contest’s history." Frank-Dieter Freiling, Chairman of the Reference Group, the governing body of the Eurovision Song Contest, expressed his hope though, that the political leadership of Ukraine will not implement the travel ban and find a solution in line with the contest's slogan, Celebrate Diversity." http://www.eurovision.tv/page/news?id=261292 Lose control. Bellatrix 34,810
I understand how EBU thinks. It gives Julia a chance to represent her country but it's still not right. She would still be excluded and she won't be there to join the all the fun Ukraine nul points Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction? It's EBU is trying to fix this, but this is not a good solution. This would look really stupid and even more confusing than not competing. And Julia deserves more than this mess. Whats next? Performing as a hologram?

It's a Eurovision rule that when you don't broadcast a performance, you're disqualified next year. I know this is a little bit different, but still this solution wasn't against the law of Ukraine, so they should allow it. Thank god Russia thought the same as me, the solution was ridiculous and they don't agree with this solution. Come on, Russia did broadcast Jamala her performance, while it really was against Russia. I'm still not sure which country is more corrupt in this case. 2 hours ago, CustomGueseppi said: British people only watch to make fun of the contest so entering will only damage your career domestically That what we, the Dutch people and the Dutch artists, exactly thought.
